Bar end weights

What is the purpose of them?

To reduce vibration in the handle bars.

Really? Hmmm....I don't see how that would make any difference for vibration. I always thought it was for weighted steering to make it easier to turn or whatever.
I don't like the way they look. Anyone here use them? Swear by them?

yes.. they kill a lot of vibs in the bars. my 97 had really heavy bar ends stock. felt like they were made of lead lol. atleast a pound or some. I had them off one day, fired the bike up and it was wayyy worse vibs thru the bars.

if you don't have an issue with your hands going numb or something, I wouldn't worry about adding them to your bike if you don't like them.

Well my vertical twin makes some serious vibrations. Triumph has done a good job trying to balance it, but my hands can get pretty numb. Maybe I should try some.

The dampen vibrations by increasing the weight of the bar.

Dumbed down physics for ya...

the vibration has to actually physically move the bar for each oscillation. by adding weight, it makes it harder for the vibration to move the bar, which means the bar moves less for each oscillation

It works. I'm buying some next week.
