Korean Bikes, would you own one?
I'm not particularly interested in them. But, a few years ago there was a lot of buzz about the Korean makes and their relatively low prices. Now you don't hear too much about them. Just curious if any BT riders have one, how they like them, or if they are crap or not.

I think they look good, and I might have gotten one for my first bike, but I wouldn't get one now. The parts are hard to find, no one wants to work on them because they don't know the bikes, and you don't get any street cred, yo.

that and from what i understand they fall apart...i have seen a few of the hyo 250 gts or whatever they are on the road...they dont look bad...i just wouldnt trust em...
|
They look nice enough, I've only seen the 250s around Daytona.
Beat one from a dig even though I missed second, that made me feel warm and fuzzy  |
I dunno how much I'd trust them. They do look nice...but I mean, I trust Yamaha, I trust Suzuki. I don't know or trust Hyosung.
|

Wow.

Good to see bike tech hasn't changed at all.
|
that was odd.
|
i wouldnt trust one.
|
My 650
it is better. (but i have a friend that bought one of those for his wife, he said he uses it a lot more than her cause he likes it compared to a turbo R1 and busa ??) |
They've gotten good reviews...
Would I buy one? Hell no... I don't think they look that good and they are no bigger a bargain than an SV650. |
i got a used gt250 dirt cheap. havent had any issues with it goin on around 12k miles or so on it. decent bike depending on what you get it for. parts are harder to find but they are some in the states
|
i have 3500 miles on my hyo no probs
|
ghood to hear those who have them arent having any problems. And waht do you mean no one will work on them? I swear to god its like everyone at these bike shops are retarded, they can work on Honda but not Suzuki wtf? SAME GOD DAMNED THING.

I read that somewhere... Suzuki out sourced their motor building to hyo or something. I'd be fine with one. if it breaks, your a fucking guy, learn to act like one and fix it yourself. god damn pussy youth of today. |
i know there is a hyo dealer in hudson and lakeland so if you need parts ordered or need work done. or you can just do the work yourself
for info on hyo go to www.korider.com |
i got mine in hudson, there's a dealer in sarasota too
|
@ sky?
|
My biggest issue it the subframe is welded to the frame. If ya twist it you can't just bolt another 1 on.
I haven't worked on 1 yet either,but wth it's a bike lol I bet I wouldn't have any issues working on it. |
it may be the blueprints of a suzuki, but its a korean company using old old technology on the motor, castings, plating doesnt exist in korea... they cut alot of corners.. so no, its not the same quality of a suzuki product.

when your not pushing the limits in a no holds barred hp war with 3 other COs. you don't need to build to the same level as the high end market. if you take the edge off hp/rpms, make parts a little heavier, they can be just as strong, cheaper to make but cost you 3 hp. don't cam it to make power as high so it feel good down low around town and over all just not as high strung. then its not cutting corners. its just doing away with high end parts you don't need and saving money. its not racing in any classes for wins. what i'm saying is think of an old ass small block chevy in a pickup truck. they can knock out 300,000 miles. with what is junk parts by todays standards. |
i rode a hyo 250 when i took the course for my endorsment, ithought it rode pretty good, turning radius was like a damn dirtbike lol actually it rode like an enduro kinda, was fun, but reallllly slow

they suzuki and hyo engines are not the same. the 250 is a v-twin as well as the 650. but the 650 has a totally block. i believe the gt650r also has just a little more power than the sv650 not to mention better looks in my opinion
|
hyo > zuki :gordy:
|
yea, i got mine at sky, as for the 250 being slow I have no problem doing 110 if needed even though it is not ever needed.
|
^^^^ you in tampa? we should go ride sometime. once i get my front tire changed
|
I bought one yesterday and I love it.
|
hell yeah, what did you get? I am in ellenton but ride to brandon alot cause my father in law has a harley and we ride alot when we can
Heres mine, getting exhaust for christmas http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC_0144.jpg |
^ Damn! USD forks on that 250? Nice... looks like it may have better suspenders than a Ninja 250.
As for the 650's, I read in a review that they are very nice. But the SV650 isn't that expensive either and the after market for the SV is HUGE!!!! Def room to grow with the SV's. Lots of them are raced... The Koren bike did do something the Japs for some damn reason had not done in the past, and that is to make incredibly good looking affordable bikes that resemble sport\race bikes. Gotta give them props on that. |
|
i got a 04 gt250 naked fitted with r fairings and zx9 clip got the bike for approx 300. traded my old project car for the bike plus cash bought the car for 500 and put 200 in it
