I have a 2006 gsx-r 600 with 15.5K miles on it. Lately I have been noticing a strange problem. When I am in 5th gear it tends to jerk an when I look down at my gear indicator it goes from 5th to 6th gear. This only happens in 5th also, so I just shift to 6th to avoid it. What do you think?? Clutch going out on me? At first I thought I wasn't shifting it into 5th all the way, but then it would be going in an out of 4th an 5th gear not 5th and 6th gear...??

at what RPM does this jerk happen - high rpm's low rpm's, any rpm's???
is it a aftermarket gear indicator or stock???

dont think its your clutch, if it was it would do it in all gears, sounds more like the forks in the trans, but it could also be an elelctrical problem like the ecu

I really need more info or would have to ride it to be of any real help

 

Hmm not sure on exact rpms but its around 60 mph. My gear indicator is stock. Also it's not a everyday type thing, it first happened when I was driving after it rained and I just though my tire slid in some oil. Thats kinda what it feels like, but then I look down and I see my indicator goind from 5th to 6th so then I just shift it up to 6th get on the throttle an everything seems fine. But like I said its not a everyday thing maybe like ummm 2 times a week...?

 

why are you in 5th gear @ 60 mph????? ride that bike, mang!!!

honestly though, you are shifting way too much if you are in 5th gear @ 60mph, you aint even in your torque range, at 60 mph, I would only be in 2nd maybe 3rd gear depending on what I was doing, if I playing around I would keep it in 2nd, but cruising down the highway abiding the law (rarely) I would put it in 3rd

 

Haha I normally do, but it's cruising on the highway I always leave it in 5th unless I need to make a quick move. Now on the streets I actually dont think i've past 3rd normally stay in 2nd.

 

These bikes have forks I'm assumming?

Bent forks.

Or bad synchro.

Do these bikes have bad synchros?
