helmet problem. help!
okay so i have an KBC strada... dont know if thats how you spell it but thats besides the point. i order a chrome visor for it... after 2 months of being back-ordered i finally got it. so im riding on the interstate, and i look over my shoulder to change lanes and the f`in visor flys off!$(!&@!$!&@ WTF NOOOOOOO my 2 months of waiting just ran over by some car... not to mention it made me almost wreck because once that happened my contacts instantly dried up 1 popped out and when i looked back everything was blurry. that was the worse ride home ever.. i bought the helmet from barneys and i really want to go back there and get rid of this damn helmet, its given me nothing but problems with the visor. i dont understand how this thing can be DOT approved.. So i would like some advise on if i should go back to barneys and bit*h up a storm or just not even worry about it try to get another chrome one and wait until that one flys off again...
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Even when you think the visor is on, its not necisarily on.
Even the guys at Cycle Gear had a debate when putting a visor on my helmet if it was really "attached" or not... one guy swore it was, the other said you're wrong... and the guy who said it wasn't on correctly was right....even though it looked good, it wasn't ... you have to actually hear it snap or else you think it is good, but it is not.
My question is who put the visor on? You or Barney's? If it was you, then unless you can prove the helmet is defective, you're out $30.

indeed i did but barneys has put it on too.. i know what the the problem is, its the things that lock it in... after use of going up and down all the time the things start to slide down... which releases the visor...
I say put it for sale on ebay and get a arai, suomy or shoei.I hade before a vemar helmet and was very happy with it.They are for sale for a good price too.It saved my head one day on I wrecked.I decided to go for Suomy just for a change.
i have 4 kbc vr2's, a delta-77 and a tk-8... no problems with the visors on those kbc models... don't know about the strada, though. i had broken shields and installed then wrong so i always double check.
if the original never gave you problems before, i would have to begin with the blame possibly being user error... not what you want to hear, but the biggest variable causing problems with this exp, seems to be the shield change... again that is if the stock shield was never a problem...

did some research... the strada is a kbc vr3. it uses the same quick release system as my vr2's...
having personally installed those shields wrong myself... i am willing to bet 1 of 2 things happened...
1. when installing it the tiny L shape brakets tha go in the channel, did not snap in... you can double check this by how ez it is for the shield to open and close. too ez, its on wrong...
2. during installation of the shield you broke the L shape brakets... ez to do as i have also done this...
the strada is a nice helmet... i wouldn't give up on it... check to see there is nothing wrong with the quick release mechanism. if it is that should be covered under warr. no brand name is fool proof of defects....

i had a smoked sheild when i was waiting for my chrome one and the guy at barenys took a razor blade to the sheild and shaved the left side of the L brackets down a little bit, he said that the makers of the sheilds arent cutting it right. but he also told me that, that was only on the smoked ones... guess he was wrong, im going to take it to barneys this weekend and complain once again.
thanks for all ur help raul

That sucks man. You should probably read the manual on how to properly put on a visor.
You get what you pay for.
