Dirt Bike Size question.
Don't know much about dirt bikes but what size would I need?
I am 240 pounds but would not need anything hard core. Would I need a 250 to tote me around because of my fat ass? Would some 125's work? 2 or 4 stroke?
Also entertaining trades plus cash for my ZX6R.

Either a 2-stroke 250 or a larger 4-stroke..... IMO

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

what kind of riding you wanting to do. Honestly if you're not going to be on a fast motocross track a 4-stroke would be your best option, especially for putting around in trails. It really is a matter of personal preference though. Just remember that a 4-stroke has a nice linear powerband although they seem to flatten out up top to me. A 2-stroke is pretty particular in its powerband. You either have next to nothing for power or you are full blasting like you just pushed a nitrous button.
Also take into account that a 125 2-stroke makes roughly the same power as a 250 4-stroke (although you would never guess it as the 250 4-strokes have got some damn nuts!) and the 250 2-stroke is equiv. to a 450 4-stroke.
Honeslty, for your wieght class I would either go 250 2-stroke or 450 4-stroke. 125's are out of the question as I am only 155lbs and a 125 is just enough power to keep me with a grin on my face.
All the above are recommendations for the motocross style bikes like the CR,CRF,YZ,YZF etc. If your looking into XR's and specifically enduro or trail only bikes, they are more comfortable, come in bigger cc's (like a 600cc), and are more comfortable. Post up what your looking for a bike to do exactly and I'll try to find some article reviews on different style bikes.

For mainly Croom riding you'd probably be happier on a four stroke, but any that you'll find in your price range are likely to be more trail oriented than the current crop of 4 stroke racers. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it will be heavier. You could definitely pick up an older two stroke dirtbike in that price range. I think I paid like $1300 for my 91(3) Honda CR250.
A two stroke at Croom is okay but you'll want to carry extra spark plugs for the trail riding. Fouling plugs is pretty common unless you adjust your carb pretty regularly for temperature changes and such.
YMMV

Thanks for the imput guys. Probably an early 90's is what i'll be looking for. Any tips like models to tell the difference in 2 vs 4 stroke? Example KX250 is ?

For croom, and a guy your size, I'd definitely recommend a 450 4-stroke. A friend of mine is a little guy and his 125 is way underpowered at croom. Croom is all soft sand and hills. 2 things you need horsepower for!
Also, the 4 stroke is nice because its pretty low maintenance for regular stuff (you don't foul plugs easily with a 4 stroke). BUT when you do have to work on them, they are alot more complicated and more expensive.
