NASCAR forgot it's roots and moved too far from the very fans that made it famous.

Maybe the times don't support American stock car racing. The New World Order of globalism has watered down a sport who's roots were solid American and made famous by people of the same rich American heritage.

NASCAR turned it's back on these people and now they are turning their back on NASCAR.

You're talking a lot about technical issues and that isn't even close to the real issues. Big reason I rarely watch TV Nascar anymore is its an ad ... with a bit of racing.

Close to half the time you're tuned in you have some product pusher in your face... way too excessive.

The other and even bigger reason is pure demographics... younger people, especially those living in city, which is most, are just not into cars. Nascar is 1960's and their fans are falling off the end of the conveyor and not getting replaced.

Coming from the UK the land of intelligent motor raceing, I am very glad to see that for once somebody clearly understands the real issues with NASCAR and also explains the issues very well. Firstly, I can see the issue with escalating speed around an oval track, after 200+ mph something needed to be done so hence the induction restrictor plate.

But why not just take the V8 engine out and use a smaller capasity better developed V6 turbo engine, all car manufacturers have this engine off the shelf. Also start using real cars you can buy in a showroom and modify it for racing just as with the majority of global motor racing today. Also
aerodynamics must play a much more important part in developing the car, how can the governing body reduce downforce, that makes the car totally unstable just trying to slow the car down. NASCAR needs to look at what's going on elsewhere in motor racing, for a start there is no major racing anywhere where a car does not use a large very special rear spoiler to provide major down force.

Every car goes through wind tunnel testing in order to gain the best aerodynamics, this is where major changes need to me made. Even when NASCAR goes to real track racing you can see how difficult the drivers find taking bends, these cars are just now designed for real track racing.

If you want to watch real science based motor racing, go watch the UK BTCC touring car championships and the Australian super cars, a lot could be learnt from that. Regards Dave. London

Dale Sr seatbelt broke when his car hit the wall. The belt did not break before. The reason it failed was Dale alterations to the safety harness ordered by Earnhardt, not because of a design flaw or failure of the mechanism and the way which Earnhardt had the belt installed likely caused its failure.

None the less even if he had the HANS device on he still would have slammed into the steering wheel. No helmet or hans device would have saved him. Maybe the safer barrer but still Dale was Dale and he was the best and no other driver even today is better.

I agree with many of the problems in NASCAR you talked about, but the main reason attendance dropped and dropped from one week to the other, was when the NASCAR officials said...'No longer can Rebel flags be flown at races', what the hell does it hurt to fly a flag, lots of flags are flown in America that are not suppose to be.

These good ole boys, bootleggers, moonshiners, and rednecks are who bought the tickets, filled the stands and paid the bills. Once NASCAR didnt want these fans, the crowds became less and less and NASCAR now pays for this.

AT the rate it is going down, there will most likely be no NASCAR racing in 10 years. This is a prime example of kicking your own ass

Number one the rear deck fin was for side drafting the roof fin was supposed to reduce flips. #2 higher the car sits to the ground the less grip down-force. These cars are going to flip dont care what they do as Dale Sr once said. Its a dangerous sport as in any racing is. These are not F1 cars and are not designed to stick to the ground like the F1.

Ever notice you don't get to see the top secret bottles of the F1 unless they flip. lol. But the reason Nascar is losing fans is because people like me who started watching racing back when cale yarborough was my top pick then it was Rusty and Dale Sr. Thats when racing was racing.

Today its to politically correct. Cant say whats on your mind cant bump and run or like Dale Sr would say "rattle there cage" The stage racing is just stupid. Points racing was a lot better. If it was not for the race format Kyle Bush would have never been champion that was handed to him.

The racing is no longer in the drivers hands its in Nascar who does more policing then any sport to-date. The cars will change as the manfactures changes the stock cars. thats been going on since stock car racing. One thing there is nothing stock about last 15 years of stock cars in Nascar.

Bring back the Winston Cup thats when Nascar was great. Yea its a cigarette sponsor so what. lol

Could you imagine drag racing where everyone ran the same car? Remind the viewer-base what the "S" and the "C" mean in the NASCAR acronym by mandating the platforms based off of one. Allow creative direction with the teams and crew chiefs to return.

Add more diverse tracks back in the mix (and yes, add some right turns). Fix the points system.

Bonus: fire and replace Brian France. There are numerous other outlets that get it, that's why their market shares grew over the last decade and NASCAR is downsizing.

When all that made NASCAR special has been ripped out, why should anyone feel excited watching it?

It used to be an all American, southern good ole boys, simply racing event. It's that mystique, a charm, which made it appealing. Grass root, seat of the pants racing is gone. Big business and PC ruined it.

No Confederate flags, adding foreign cars, women and latino drivers, complicate everything with way too many rules.

Chevy, Ford, Pontiac, Dodge, Plymouth, Buick, Pontiac gone, now it's Toyota, Chevy and Ford.

A lot of little things unappealing to the subconscious mind make you say, no thanks.

Use stock templates like they did in the 80's. With the technology of today, all they have to do is run the car through a large 3d scanner and it would give a VERY accurate comparison to the real car. We all know you can't actually use the real chassis and engine.

AMERICAN V8 in American brand cars and don't give any namby panmby BS about Toyota being made in the USA - it's still a Japanese company !!! NO TOYOTA !! - The people who made this type of racing famous and will watch it, want AMERICAN BRAND NAMES - period !! or go bankrupt.

NASCAR decision. (NO MORE STAGES, CHASES and BALL GAME TERMINOLOGY - overtime, playoff..etc. - it's RACING - just RACE)

To me the number 1 issue is the cars like you believe. The dirty air problem will forever be a problem, but NASCAR has gone sooo far backwards. The product on track this year has been pathetic. INDYCAR actually found a way to fix it somewhat.

It’s hard to say because they’ve only had one race, but the product INDYCAR seems to have is very good. NASCAR has gone backwards. I also believe that Brian France dies not care. He’s just sitting in his suite in charlotte and collecting his money.

He’s also such a hypocrite because he says NASCAR does things but he doesn’t do any of those things. I mean he doesn’t even show up to the track. So there’s my very limited list of problems I could make a 30 minute video if I wanted to.

Thanks realradman for a nice well though out complaint unlike how some people complain. You’re one of the few people who could do that.
