Default what class am I

I need some help. I am building a GRM 2014 challenge car that I also plan to auto-X regularly when complete but I have no idea what class it will be in.

I am building a 1973 bug with large displacement motor, large wheels and mild suspension. Suspension will be stock mounting locations just upgraded shocks and sways. I may even try forced induction.

Can anyone tell me what class that would put me in or do you need more information?

Thanks for the help.

Everything is a trade off, everything is a compromise.

Generally, the best source of class rules is the organization that is putting on the event.
If you are going with Grass Roots Motorsports, you follow their rules.

If you plan to run with some of the other organizations, see how close you come to
a perfect fit in one of their classes. SCCA rules are followed by some clubs, but check
the club's supplementary regs. Around here there are some clubs that have agreed to
use the same rules for competitor convenience.

With the VW for instance, some suspension mods keep you in the stock class,
but a bigger motor may bump you into a modified class, where you might have to
compete with HIGHLY modified cars.

A general principle: Do as much as you can under the stock rules to stay in a
stock class or street class. Once you get into the modified classes, decide if
you are willing to spend the money to beat whatever is winning in the modifieds.
Anything less than fully modifying your car will put you at a disadvantage in
the modified classes.

Some people trailer their cars in, but a daily driven street-driven car will keep
you familiar with the car's handling characteristics, whereas the trailered cars
use up some runs to get familiar with how the car handles.

Going to the autocross school the day before some events will give you some
track time with multiple runs and for some people, lots of track time is more
fun than a limited number of runs. Money versus track time; the schools are
a really good deal.

Thanks for the info. As soon as the car is together I will definitely be attending as many a-X training events as possible.
