Have any of you received your September issue of Sports Compact Car? In there they have a cartest with AWD Vs. FWD Vs. RWD!
All of you that were arguing about which one is better in the Time Slip topic can go at it here. And if you dont already have a subscription to that mag go buy it because that test answers a lot of questions.
Anybody that has read it have any opinions?

I have an opinion....
The Eclipse featured in that test is BAD ASS!!
Oh yeah one more thing. For everyone who is saying that DSM AWD drivetrains suck. I like how the owner of the Eclipse said Rev it till it hits the stutterbox (6000 rpm) and dump the clutch.. The SCC driver said What if I break it?. The Owner said Go ahead Break it!.
It didnt break... It just buried the competition.

Yeah the rason you liked it so much was because it just shows whats going to happen when you get your turbo upgrade! I hope your running 12s like that guy.
When I was reading it I saw how the guy first ran a 13.3 and I said to myself I know somebody from Tampa that runs a better time why didnt they use his car? But then it says that was with his stock turbo so again you have him beat. Just wait until you get the new one strapped on. Do you think low 12s will be possible? Or better?

There is a feature on that car in the same issue of SCC. They say he is running mid 11s with the turbo that is on that car now. He has run 13.3 with the stock turbo i have run 13.0 with the stock turbo... not that big of a deal really. there are guys in the mid 12s and quicker with stock turbo DSMs out there though they are rare. I have more left in my car as it sits. My Exhaust manifold is stock and has a huge crack in it. a common upgrade is to go to a ported 95+ manifold to gain around 15 hp and get much quicker spool times. Also my O2 sensor housing (cast elbow between my turbo/wastegate outlet and downpipe) is stock. Another BIG restriction. My upgraded Downpipe and exhaust is not doing as much as it could if that housing was ported to bigger than 2 or if it was replaced completely. I think I could run 12.8 or 12.7 with those mods done on the factory turbo... but Im ready for a nice big turbo. Not quite as big as the one the guy in the drivetrain comparison has (he has a Frank 2) but big enuff for me to EXPECT low 12s and hope to run in the 11s with some more tuning and technique.

I might make a final run for the 12s on the stock turbo next friday. We will see...
