Default Grm $2007

I mailed in my entry form for the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge today. Looks like I'll actually be going. Wow.
Just need to do a little tweeking, and then Paint the car.
Hopefully I'll get in 2 more autocrosses before the actual event.

I hear the East Side Miata club is also taking a car.
Anyone else on here attending?

i've always wanted to do it, but money has always come up short. a V8 FB RX7 is the most ideal car for that event IMO. they've won the last couple years aswell.

Did you fix the clutch pedal?

What color is the car going to be?

Where was the coolant leak from last Saturday?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Thanks for asking Chi. (love the new avatar)
The clutch pedal is now held on with a plastic zip tie.
I put a spare zip tie in my tool box for good measure.

The Paint I have is Dodge IROC R/T White and TR-8 Pewter metalic, both left over from prior projects. Not enough of either to paint that little car, so it gets treated to a 2 tone paint job. White on top with pewter ground effects.

The coolant leak was a loose clamp as I had hoped.
It was crammed behind the A/C pump, but I tossed the pump, and had better access to tighten it.

Hey that works for DSM's so you'll be good to go.

Sounds interesting, hope you will show pix when done.

Happy to hear that it was a simple repair and that you also found a way to do weight reduction

Ex-DSMer chiming in here- I'd use a worm gear clamp to hold a clutch pedal on. Or TWO zip ties. You don't want to halfass something important like that, after all.

Things are looking positive for the 24hrs race. I have an Appointment with the track in Lakeland in 2 weeks. SO ill let evey one know.. Then you all can shop for a $500 car..
If it works out it be in April or May of 08..

Hi BAM, Keep up the good work on getting the lemons to come to our area. I assume the BMW club will have a team car (or 2).

I'm doing a garage paint job on my GRM car. ( '86 Fiero)
We did one on my buddy's '61 Vette, and everyone keeps asking him for the name of the shop that did it.
I got some dampers at a swap meet this weekend, and the difference is night and day. I cant believe I autocrossed it with the original shocks..

Painted the Fiero this weekend.
I learned why you should throw out old paint and body supplies,
but it does look good enough to hit cones.

Used R compounds went on yesterday, so I'll have it at Z-hills in 2 weeks if I can get the brakes done this weekend.
I'm looking forward to beating some Porsches.

The total build cost was $1,106 as of last night,
but I ordered some $22 brake pads today. I felt rich.
It blows me away that the entire build cost about the same as the exhaust on my Miata.
