Default Bay Bottom Crawl

Are you ready for the big time?
How about a 3 mile long high speed autocross.
Come join the EVSCC down in the Florida Keys on Oct 7th, 8th and 9th for some fun.
The Bay Bottom Crawl is a forty year tradition.
Go to www.evscc.com for all the details on the event on Sugarloaf Key.

Look forward to seeing everyone there,

Dang it, I'm going to get down there for this event one of these years! Unfortunately, it won't be this year.

For those who haven't heard... this is a damn near legendary autocross event.

Wow. This looks awesome. I have been out of the autox "scene" for a long while after just barely getting my feet wet, but since my Escort died a fiery death, it looks like I'll be buying my brother's '99 Si.

Would you seasoned folks reccommend this to someone "getting back into it," or would I be better off with more seat time under my belt before trying something like this?

If you have the tendency to overdrive and get yourself into scary situations, you might want to skip this one. You could end up "in the drink" as they say. If you have the ability to drive within your means then you should have a good time.

Default Self control

It is a high speed dangerous event
You need to think about your driving experience and decide if you can have fun and stay under control.
It is all about the fun and coming home in one piece

I will attend and dial it back a little.

Hope to see you there,

If I can dig up some R comps for the M3 I'm there. Can't wait 3 more weeks and I'll never drive on god awful street tires again!

**edit***
Nevermind, Buddy is getting married that weekend.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Yeah, I think I could manage to not lose control of the car. Especially if the incentives are having a fun time/not going "into the drink."

I have no idea when I'll actually be getting the Si, but hopefully I'll have enough time to attend a few local events before October.

I looked on the site but didn't see any mention of camping. Is there a place for people to pitch a tent?

Should be a great event.
Go look up some video under Bay Bottom Crawl to get an idea what the road is really like.
http://www.carsracingcars.com/multimedia.php
There are three different videos to check out.

Do not know about any camping - but have heard people talk about staying in their motor homes.

Email evscc and ask more questions

See you there,

yeah i used to live 5 miles from that road used to ride my bike around it all the time. Its really cool but you gotta watch out for the dip in that sharp left hander it will take the weight right off the front when you need it for grip.

I have watched this event but i havent driven in it so i dont really know the plan of action around it but i do know alot of people go off course at that turn.
I was gonna run this year but money and time contraints maybe a couple of years from now i will
