Opinions Needed Please...

Okay, here is the deal.....

I am in need of a subwoofer...I want a single 12 and that is all because I need the trunk space and don't want alot of weight. I was looking at the Polk MOMO MM12. It can be had for ~$215.00 online and ebay. It seems to get good reviews online.... and I like the idea that the enclosure is included and turned to the subwoofer.

It sounded pretty good @ Circuit City today and shold provide me with the tight bass I need as I prefer a sealed box. More information is HERE.

Since the Subwoofer/Enclosure handles 500 Watts RMS Maximum, I need a Decent Amp. I just ordered an Orion 4002 2 channel Amplifier. Info: 400 watts RMS (oroin is usually underrated) @ 4 ohms bridged. Got it for $249.00 + shipping. Damn thing is 18lbs and 18 inches long! INFO HERE

After my next paycheck. I am getting the AudioBahn A6004T 4 channel amplifier for my focal component set and rear 6x9s.
75 Watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms or 150 Watts RMS x 4 @ 2 ohms.

kicker solobaric L7 12inch. TRUST ME!

I was thining about that, but how much can I get a L7 for and an enclosure. Me = on tight budget. :(

If I got a L7, then I would need a more powerful amp too...

you dont nec need a more powerful amp with abetter sub, which do you think would be better, constantly running a sub @ full potential or leaving rom for improvement in the future?

you cna find l7's online for like 180, and a box is gonan be like 80 bucks or less.

the l7's impressed me with the bass, altho not the sq I would like, but in a trunk you cnat hear sq anyways

Any opinions on the RF amp?

I am leaning towards the Polk MOMO becase it is cheaper and the box is really solid. Plus it is smaller in size, I am not loking for huge ammounts of bass.

amp seems fine, never used rf, some like it some dont, i'm indifferent, the thinkt hat i question about the polk box, is how thick is that plexi?

any flex?

aaron1017 07-07-2003 10:38 AM

The Box is made of 1" thick MDF and the plexi glass is 1/2" thick held with 26 allenwrench screws and an airtight gasket...

$209 not bad of a deal.

You should check out www.ikesound.com , they have great deals. I just ordered Infinity Kappa components and coaxles and a RF amp from them. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

Yeah, those solobarics will give you great bass... for like 3 days. all i hear about those is that they like to break. a lot. personally, i'm going to continue to whore jl and idq subs, but i've never heard the momo sub, so if you like it, go for it.

chevySS 07-12-2003 01:16 PM

yes they do sound good but they also like to break, a friend of mine has 2 12" L7's, hes running a 1200 kicker amp not bridged and they have broke 2 times each so fare.
