Default Remote Control Amp Help

Just picked up an icbm-780 performance teknique 1600 watt monoblock amplifier as a trade but it doesn't have the remote that comes with it. Does anybody know where i can get such a remote or another way to tune the amp?

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

No, the amp itself should have just a regular "volume/gain" knob/dial. This is essentially the same as the remote knob. Even then, if it wasn't included, the knob only DECREASES volume, doesn't help gain it.

Otherwise, pray someone is selling a spare remote on Ebay or try the manufacturer's website for contact info.

I am not familiar with that particular amp, but any amp that we have ever installed that has a remote port is just for the bass knob. All that really does is allow you to essentially control the amp gain from a more convenient location than having to dig out the amp and a screwdriver. If the remote port looks like a female phone jack, then it is just a control knob. And actually, you can use any remote bass knob and cable. If you can only find the remote knob, you can use phone cord that is capable of passing data (look to make sure it has all 4 of the gold pins in the connectors-if it only has two, it is an analog only cord and it won't work). I actually keep extra phone cords in stock when we get one of those huge SUV's and the cord included with the BassLink or amp is only 17'. Their only like $10 from WalMart. Check eBay for any bass control knob. I am sure there is one or two there....

thanks man. i actually tried my friends remote, but the wires seemed to be in the opposite direction than what the amp needed. + and - different ends. i was thinking of using an extra phone cord i have and rewiring the clip to suit the amp. but i didn't know that the remote for the bass was just a gain adjuster.

That's what I was telling you before goofball .
Of course, you probably thought i was talking out my ass.

I don't know if you've ever ripped open a phone cord but the wires are EXTREMELY thin and brittle. Good luck with that, it's major frustration for me whenever I have to deal with them, which is why I avoid phone cords as much as possible at work. I have a hard enough time not wanting to stab someone in the eye when making stupid cat5 cabling/re-punching down/re-terminating at work.

lol. na i just thought you meant the adjustable gain on the amp itself. my bad. but the phone cord won't be too bad for me. done it a couple times with ethernet. just have to be REAL careful.

No no, i tried being careful when saying that but I guess it's still hard to differentiate.

Anyways, that's all that the remote knobs do, they don't make volume go UP like regular volume knobs are supposed to do, it actually limits it only (most of them). You can tell whenever you leave it at max volume and unplug it and plug it back in to the amp itself, no volume change. It's just really there to lower it down at will, or to be respectful (like entering a neighborhood at night or something).

Trust me, ethernet cat5 cabling is 10x easier, and I don't really like doing it as it is. Telephone cable just sucks completely.
