door speakers to amp?
im plannin to run my door speakers to a amp pretty soon, when i find the right deal. wondering on how do i do it? i have to run each speaker back to the amp? if so how would i go about doing this and not make it look sloppy. wires are visable
. i was wondering if i just ran a line from the amp to the headunit and a power cable to the battery. but i dont think life is that simple. thanks for the replies. peace.

Well, its gonna be power from the batt, rca/turn on from the HU, and ground somewhere by the amp.
As far as wires to the speakers, you CAn run new sets of wires to each speaker from the amp , or just run a batch of wires from the amp to the head unit, and patch in to the current wiring.. factory wiring isnt that great, but for the wattage im thinking you'll be putting thru them I think it will be fine.

the door speakers i think are around 220 watts or something, their polks, and i dont know about the back. i already plan on changing the wire to be safe to 16 gauge. i guess im just gonna run each speaker to the amp. all i need now is a amp, and my spending money just went up so im definetly happy
. bring on the amps.
. bring on the amps.
I'm guessing that 220w is MAX power (ie, irrelevant). What's RMS?
Patching into the HU location of the wires is definetly the easiest, it can be a PITA to get new wire through your door jam. I've yet to see a noticeable difference in larger guage speaker wire...so I would be confident in saying you're stock wire from the door to the HU would work fine, you've probably got something like 18gauge.

Run a buncle of speaker wire from the amp outputs to the wiring harness for the head unit, cut the wires that come fomr the head unit but before the connector on the harness (gotta leave room for possability to re use) and connect the corresponding outputs from the amp to the harness leads... and be sure to tape off the speaker outputs on the head unit

cool. when u say a bunch of speaker wire , u mean how many? i dont wanna run a bunch of wires and them just be lying there for no reason. do i need to run a piece of wire for each wire on the the wiring harness? thanks
youre gonna need a positive and negative for each speaker system youre amplifying.. so if youre running 4 coaxila, youre gonna have 8 wires (but thats kinda misleading since wire is normally set in runs of 2 like a positive and negative ya know).. so you'll have 1 speaker wire with +/- for every speaker youre gonna run off the amp

i put a 4 channel 1000 watt amp in my car for the door speakers run it like any amp to speakers just make sure the amp is on full or high pass and the level is low, my amp really only puts out like 75 watts x4. usually RMS is 1/2 the max power or at least do that to be safe. your high notes will be so loud i suggest geting a component system they are very easy to hook up even if you do not have an amp only 2 wires into it and 4 out which go to a mid peaker and a tweeter the combo willsound very cear
It was no fun wiring the speakers in my doors. Accually it sucked really bad. Worst thing ever I did to that car was that. It was no fun getting it thru from the door to the frame of the car. U kno how u open the door and see that plastic tube there that has the factory wires in there? I cut two slits on each end of it, and put black wire loom over it to cover it all up. Makes it a lot easier than trying to hide the wire by tryin to pull it thru the plastic tube. U can barely notice it unles u knew it wasnt there to begin with
