Tbc
Are there any down sides (clearance, etc.) to having the your piston domes coated with TBC?

its so thin that if clearance is an issue, you've got other problems. Some turbo folks have expressed a concern with the coating flaking off if misapplied and going thru the turbine shaft, and not going thru it gracefully. I personally think thats a stretch. My forged pistons for a turbo motor have the TBC on top, and dry graphite on the skirts, but I'm not using them in my current motor so I can't give real world experience. If you decide to do it, go thru Techline coatings. Buy the stuff and apply it yourself. Its water based, so its easy to put on, and its VERY reasonably priced.

I have never coated domes before. I will look around for some articles on it and look into this company some more. Thanks =)
