98 civic ex. had a bad alt so i got a new one and had my dad put it on for me. my speedo still doesn't work, it idles at about 1600 rpm, and last night on my way home all my lights went dim. inside and out. i go to start the car this morning, it started but had trouble doing so. when i had a bad alt i kept draining and recharging my battery, could i just have a bad battery? guy at autozone said it also could be a bad ground somewhere.

make sure it's grounded right!MY TEG DID THE SAME THING I BOUGHT BOTH NEW ALT. AND BATTERY BEFORE I REALIZED IT WASN'T GROUNDED RIGHT!CHECK WIRING........
