95 Civic Ex Overheating
95 Civic Ex Overheating
I had a leaking radiator hose, so I replaced the hose
the thermostat & the fan switch.
the car overheats if im sitting idle with the AC running
if i dont have the ac running it runs cool,
i can hear when the fan trips in and out, so i know the fan is working
what could be the problem?

I just totally redid my cooling system in my teg, Check compression and make sure its not the headgasket, and also look to see if ur water pump is leaking, check the radiator cap, etc. Stupid little things such as a radiator cap can cause this..

if you are losing water somewhere, I would check the headgasket (do a compression test) and replace the water pump.
If you are not leaking water from somewhere, then I would replace or remove the thermostat(replace it). replace your radiator cap (they tend to leak and cause overheating issues) and flush, replace your coolant.
Try those out. Let us know.
Feel free to add anything I might have missed.

I had a problem with my old EF a while ago , it would always do this (it was bone stock , and all of the cooling system was replaced ) no matter what i did . I just hope you don't run into one of those situations. my last resort would be to check the waterpump , and replace it. but it does sound kind of odd , as it only does this when the ac is on ?
when you changed the fan switch perhaps you wired it wrong so the fan doesnt come on when the condensor fan is running. put the a/c on and open the hood, watch the fans and see if the one on the radiator actualy comes on. if the car just keeps getting hotter and that fan doesn't come on, then hardwire the fan to battery and see if it still works. if it does come on and the car still gets hot. also check to make sure that the fan is turning the right direction.
