It is funny how the mankind goes backwards… A hundred years ago, things were explained clearly and everybody knew exactly what was being taught. Today, people just throw something at you and you need to figure everything out or simply just memorize it without proper understanding… :-(

If this were made today, they would be so busy trying to 'depict an environment inspirational to women and minorities' that they'd never find the time or inspiration to make a quality video that actually educates. But I guarantee the host would be jewish or black or a woman!

If this subject was presented today, it would involve 3 dozen scientists talking to the viewer as if they were half-brain dead toddlers, inaccurate demonstrations of rudimentary (rudimentary for a Kindergartener) concepts using balloons and popsicle sticks, only to be left with the uneasy, sinking feeling that you are actually far dumber than you were before you watched the

presentation. If you want to know what I'm talking about, watch this video and then go watch a Discovery Channel crapumentary. You'll see what I mean.

So nice seeing all those civilized, well-dressed, true Americans. If filmed today the last scene would feature multiracial couples, a gay 'married' couple with kids, and people looking like they just got out of prison, a bunch of tattooed whores and thugs.

Actually, compared to today's standard transmissions, this is a very crude gear box. The gears in today's transmissions are cut at an angle and called helical cut gears. That reduces the noise of the gears about 50%. Additionally, this IS NOT a synchro transmission, and 99% of today's transmissions are, so there are a lot of parts in today's transmission,

specifically the synchro rings, that are not reflected in this video. It is a very good representation of ratios, and multiplication and reduction theory based on the number of gear teeth. In watching this again, after some comments directed my way, I will concur that synchro mechanisms are discussed, and are a good example of how they work. Now for the fun of it, find a video of the Tremec 6 speeds, or ZF 8 speeds. Lots more spinning levers.

It's as if the baby boomer generation wanted to educate, enlighten, and unblind a fellow human that was watching the video. Like as if the viewer was his very own son and wanted to make absolutely sure that he understood whatever subject was being explained. Spoon feeding him every single concept, idea, and rule in physical action so he could virtually see it inside is mind and feel it in his hand. That's teaching.
