Hard to believe that up to 25'000 employees worked in this 3.5 million sq ft plant building quality cars. Packard got cheated in the Studebaker deal while the Indiana factory had the narrower tooling system for Studebakers and couldn't handle the wide-track Packards. They slapped a packard front onto a Studebaker but the people didn't fall for it. packard died in 1958 while Studebakers moved to canada until 64,the Avante kept going to about 1967.This is more like farmland for green houses .

Abandoned Packard plant fire
Badly edited footage of a fire at the former Packard Auto Plant in Detroit, MI. This was the second fire of the day, starting only 15 minutes after the previous fire in the same part of the building was extinguished. After calling 911, the Detroit Fire Department quickly responded back to the scene and brought the fire under control.

Ronnie is a local resident who lives next to the plant. His colorful commentary should not be mistaken for advocating arson; as he says, he's "just tired of looking at it."

As cool as that footage is, it's nothing compared to driving up Grand Blvd. in front of the plant and the walkway as you get there. Driving around it and actually seeing the size and scale alone is amazing.
