D16 Civic vs. Turbo 240

Well, we finally got a chance to run my friend's D16 swapped hatch against his friend's turbo Nissan 240. We went from a first gear roll, I was in the passenger seat of the Civic filming. Three honks and we're off. In first gear, the Civic really pulled him out a car due to the short gearing. Second gear, we have another car on him. We hit third and we even out, he is still 2 cars back. We are pretty much locked all they way through 4th to about 120, then we let off. Didn't expect those things to be that quick, but it wasn't bad, my friend's Civic ended up winning by a little over 2 cars. From what my friend told me he has a FMIC, upgraded turbo, 18psi boost, and bolt ons, tuned at (supposedly) 300whp. His engine was pretty nice, it was done clean. He had a red valve cover and chrome pipes everywhere, looked really well done. My friend's D16 Civic has I/H/E, tuned. It was a fun run.

sounds like the 240 needs a driver mod though.

Hmm hard for me to believe with out seeing the civic, 300rwhp can net you 12's in the quarter in a 240.

stock redtop SR w/ FMIC on 16psi? vs d16/Y8/Z6? non-vtec or vtec?
Im sure he told you 300whp, im just sortve skeptical.. maybe the driver's skill played a role?

He said turbo upgrade, other wise there is no way he is making 300hp. needs at least a bbt28.

Last time i ran a 300whp 240 i got beat. And im almost positive that id beat a D16 civic. Just a thought.....

I talked to the guy again today. It has a SR20 motor, GT2871R turbo, and it's on 18 psi. He had his dyno-graph too. It put out 332whp/302wtq. He is not the greatest driver, so maybe that's why we beat him.

My friends Civic is VTEC, but it's SOHC, so it's not really noticeable, yet the car pulls hard. Hard enough to beat his 240. Right now, the Civic has I/H/E, and tuned on a Exospeed cam. We put 132whp/106wtq, but his car only weighs right over 2000lbs. so we have the weight advantage. The 240 was pretty decent, I mean he hung with us when we got to the higher gears, but we ripped him down low.

I have been playing with hondas for 5 yrs. now and there is no way in hell an i/h/e sohc would beat a sr20 240. I had an s14 w/ an sr and used to take out swapped hondas all day. Sorry man, but so far your 0 for 2 on posts that make since!!!
