gt and cobra kills

i was on my way to my friends house saturday night just to drop him off and i come up to a red light. at the light is this dark blue mustang gt. i look over but he doesnt look back. all of a sudden i hear him reving his car to launch hard and he sure did! there was no way i would get him from a dig. besides, my manifold is cracked so i shouldnt even be thinking about racing. so i coast up to him after he lays back and can't help but downshift and he jumps on me by like a fender and i pull hard on him by like a car and a half but then we catch up to traffic at another light. we weave thru and start talking. pretty cool guy. up in front of us is a cobra and he eggs me on to go after it. i'm thinking i'm going to get murdered bcz these new supercharged cobras are sick fast but oh well, i live for the run so i pull up next to him and blow off a couple times and he looks over and laughs at me and i hear him downshift and his car starts roaring like only mustangs do, but he wasn't going anywhere. i was already at full boost when we started and it was from like a 60mph roll so i guess that was in my favor but i pulled on him by like a fender to half a car and held there till we caught traffic at the next light.

thanks guys. the cobra was an '03. and it was nuts of me to even think about racing w/ my manifold and all but you know how i get sometimes norlandt. i've been doing good staying away from ass hauling but i couldnt resist.

uh... I'm having a hard time believing it was an '03. he downshifted from 60 and didn't go anywhere. That's weird, cause I know 03 cobras move out pretty good from a roll. Even in stock form. If you ever wanna actually race an '03 Cobra let me know. If you win, I'll give props were props are due.

hey, i couldnt believe it either and i was there but i'll be glad to run with you if it means that much. same situation. 60 roll. i know i'd get tore up from a dig. even by a gt.

Yeah im having a hard time believing it too, i have a faster than normal GT. Even though i can take the older Cobras, the new ones kill me, from a roll, from a dig, backwards, doesnt matter. But im willing to go up against a t'bod celica though

let me just warn you, i'm killer backwards!!! just kidding! but seriously, i'd like to run with you. but it still has to be from a roll. maybe even this weekend. definitely if i get my manifold swapped in during the week. i haven't popped yet but i'm sure you two wont be the only ones who will want to run.

I'd just be interested to see some more stuff about the Turbo Setup on the GT-S even. Props to you for that dood.

But I have to go w/the general consensus here. If it were an '03, and he didn't go anywhere. Maybe he shifted into 6th, or he wasn't on it, or something. 60 Roll is a heavy hittin spot for the boost on my '03.

+1 I have raced 2 03' cobras that were members of modern mustangs and it was a dead even race all the way to 115 both times which is over a 1/4 mile considering I trap 103...I dont think a turboed celica gts would do much to a COBRA

chances are he could have mis-shifted or basically doesnt know how to drive the car, but a kill is a kill is a kill. especially when street racing. no rules except set by the racers. it can happen to anyone, by anyone. but once again, if it will make all the 03+ cobra, or even mustang drivers out there happy to see me race one to prove my worth, then i would be glad too. and please dont get me wrong with this thread. i was not trying to say anything bad about the cobra. i love the car, i'd even love to own one. just posting a kill. but feel free to bring on what you have. by the way, to all of you who have raced any 03 cobras, are you all absolutely sure they were stock?!!
