me, 02 gt, wrx sti

So I am cruising along mcmullen booth coming from east lake, when I run into a sweet looking wrx sti that was modded so I drive next to him to check it out. Then hauling ass behind us is a souped up 02 or 03 gt mustang. The one place that I didn't want to race them was from a stop (I have traction problems)but of course what do we hit, nothing but a stop light. Just like I suspected the sti ripped me out of the hole and first through second I am just sitting there spinning tires, but after that I eat up there lead roared passed the mustang like nothing and proceeded on to the sti, when right when I caught up he shut down. Then we went from a roll (40-45), I got like a 1/2 a car on the sti and like 2 or so on the mustang. The sti kept shutting down though, I wish I could have gotten a better race out of him. Oh well it was fun gotta love that cold weather!!

Very very rairly do I ever see any either, fast anything at that. Always when I am driving with my friend in his truck and stuff. The only thing that is my week spot right now is from a stop (shitty tires). I don't really care what kind of car it is, I have raced ferraris before lost of course, but just trying to have fun.

Just out of curiosity... what makes you think that these cars were modded and 'souped up'? I'm especially interested in knowing how you knew the Mustang was modded, seeing how it was coming up from behind you. Not flaming you; just asking.

Well I could tell that the mustang had stuff done to it because of the way that it sounded. It didn't sound like a stock gt. I knew that the sti had an exhaust and an intake.

Was the Mustang loping like it had a larger cam or something, or was it just louder than stock? A set of non flowing Flowmasters will make a Mustang sound great, and not give it anything, as far as power, over stock.
Could you see the intake of the STI, or did you know the driver, so you know what he has?

I see... so you beat a h/c 02-03 stang. Impressive! I would think that a h/c stang would be at least as strong as my lid/muffler T/A, and I walked you hard last Saturday. You sure he was racing?

What mods are done to the GST? A stock GST runs 14.9-15.2 or so, and It would be VERY hard to beat a STI on a Stock turbo.

Dunno, depends on if you have a turbo upgrade
