Escort vs. Grand Am GT

On the way to school this morning, this guy lines up with a 98ish Grand Am GT Sporting the V-6, given away by the coherent logo on its fender. We take off from the first light and he drags back as if he wasn't racing, so I let off from the launch thinking he was backing out. Then at about 30mph he floors it, by then I'm in 3rd driving normal. So I downshift to second and try and catch up to the already pulling car. We tag up to about 80 pretty much even with him about maybe a bumper ahead. We catch a second light, this time I'm launching like I should have last time. He proceeds to take off like he did last time as if he wasn't racing, but I launch hard. I have no tach so I couldn't tell you the RPM's though

. I pull out an easy 2 lengths ahead with the launch. He pulls about a car length closer by about 70 then we were sticking to that distance to about 80 when I backed down. Gave him the thumbs up and he rolled on by

That means that your stock 17.2 ish car runs a 16 flat with probably little or no mods? heh

I beat stock Vipers and z06s in my nearly stock 5.0 ... you know why? Because I'm crazy.
