I am going to go out on a limb here and guess your semen chugging friend has never owned an Audi. The manual will definitely be fine. The auto may shit the bed in another 60K miles if it is not maintained and it is beat on regularly.

youll be fine, I'm at 127k on a tiptronic and it is the smoothest and quietest transmission I've ever heard.

Maintenance is key to these cars. That's all there is to it.

Expect to do a control arm kit on both around roughly 100k. They aren't too bad in price, and I think for $100 more I think you can get a Bilstein kit for yours. (I figure you're more performance oriented). Check your vins with an Audi dealer, see if you can get in for the coilpack recall and score some free coilpacks. I also received a letter not too long ago that my vehicle had qualified for the sludge inspection. So also have them run your vin for that. I haven't had my A4 for quite some time now but, always take advantage of recalls.
