Racing the Silver Arrows

Sleek, aerodynamic racecars driven by daring young men captivated the world of motorsports in the 1930's.
At the top of the heap were the cars of Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz. Their futuristic machines dominated the tracks of Europe and transformed what the world thought a racer should be.
Unfortunately, their exploits were pushed off the stage by World War Two. We are now just rediscovering the stories of the legendary cars called the Silver Arrows.
This film produced by Audi in 1992 takes a look at the cars and drivers of Auto Union.
Their most famous driver, Bernd Rosemeyer had been a motorcycle racer for the DKW team, which was part of Auto Union. His natural talent was spotted as he effortlessly won races. They decided to give him a test drive. He was absolutely brilliant.

Grand Prix motor racing in the late 1930s was dominated by the German Auto
Union and Mercedes teams. With massive financial backing from a
propaganda-conscious Nazi government, the Silver Arrows were hugely
successful. Amongst the drivers of these technologically advanced cars was a
young Englishman, Richard Seaman.
One of Britain's greatest racing drivers ever. Seaman was almost erased from
history when he left British motor-sport and chose to race for the German
Mercedes team at the height of the Third Reich.
