Having a dash cam is a self-defense, socially driven mandate in Russia due to a proliferation of insurance scammers. I drive truck in U.S.; have driven in Middle East, too, and I use it to protect myself against American drivers including cops whose knee jerk reaction is to blame the trucker. I rear-ended a couple pulling a trailer - the trailer was obliterated. They crossed through traffic cones into my lane of travel after failing to stop at a stop sign. I was going 5MPH less than speed limit. My dash cam protected me from them: they got the tickets for lane changing across through the construction cones, not stopping at a stop sign, and reckless driving. Whew !! I could have lost my job; the cam saved that situation too. The insurance onus was on the couple's
