Spending 6k on a SOHC might make a 11sec run, but that engine is gonna be fully built boosted and alll.
And if you ever decide to wanna go for a 9 sec run, you will be at a dead end, so swapping the K series is smarter then a SOHC with 6k, but it depends on what they want in the long run.
And I dont get whats with the "All that money for a 13 sec pass" wut?
The car and engine price plus labor is still cheaper then alot of 13 sec cars....

I really don't see a point in high hp fwd applications. I think those cars would be fun the way they are with 240ish whp, upgraded brakes, good suspension components and use it as a twisty back roads car. I would have a hard time justifying investing 4,500 for a motor, plus mounts, plus hondata, etc, etc, etc in a chassis initially purchased for around 2k. Just seems like your setting yourself up when it comes time to resell.

I suppose, I don't know how much fun it would be loosing your ass on something when you go to sell it. I suppose if someone is willing to sell their ek for 9k when they have 15+ in it, then yeah no big deal. That's not to say that everyone isn't losing money when they modify a vehicle, just some more than others. I'm just thinking it wouldn't be a wise idea to purchase an ek and dump 4500 to purchase a swap, then upgrade rods/pistons/cams/valves/valvesprings/retainers in order to run a forced induction setup on a car that isn't going to hook up without slicks and VHT (and even then it's a crap shoot). At that point you could have 10k invested easy without even going into brakes, or suspension. That's just part of the reason why IMO an ek would be a fun ass car as a twisty back roads car with moderate horsepower. I'm not saying civics are bad at drag racing, I'm saying there are more efficient ways to go about it than doing a k series swap in an ek (depending on what the individual is wanting to do with the car).

I think you are over looking the obvious. What forum gets the most traffic on this site? Honda/Acura parts for sale forum. You don't sell it complete you part it out so you don't loose as much money. If you sell it complete you will loose big. Some cars are long term projects that get put together and upgraded over years. Im a Honda guy. All ive owned is Hondas as well as work for the company. I could build something else but I wouldnt enjoy it as much.

Ive said this a hundred times to people. If your looking to make money off a car than Honda is not the car for you...I build them because there fun,Cheap, reliable, easy to work on/find parts for...And simply because I love Honda's.

I had an ek as my first car, purchased a motor from a local member on here that had it listed in Honda/Acura for sale. He stated the motor was in good running condition. Had Neil put it in, and it had rod knock. The guy acted like it was something I or Neil did and I ended up taking him to court. Then after I was done with the car I had parts left over that I wasn't going to use. I listed them on TR and I got a bunch of broke ass people trying to offer me pennies on the dollar (even after I had shit listed for cheap). Took me a few months to sell most of the bigger items, and I gave up trying to sell the smaller items due to not wanting to deal with them anymore. I really don't like most of the people I've met from the Honda community. I'm sure each enthusiast group has it's own set of douche bags, it's just the amount of them in the Honda community was overwhelming in my experience.

I agree 100% Most of the Honda guys are douche's..Simply because there mostly kids and have no kind of respect or understanding of a hard earned dollar.I tried to venture off into the Ford group but it just didnt fell right not building a Honda..Btw most of the Ford guys are super cool standup guys.
