Well my guess is he thought it'd be funny so he just threw it in R with the clutch in and that will automatically put on the back up lights lol

Or he was manual selecting the gears and slipped. Other than that this video demonstrates why its automatic FTW in higher powered drag cars...consistency...no oops i missed a gear.
