    i want to convert my 1990 chevy 1500 into 4x4
    is this a good idea or not and prices

    depends.... you need (primarily) a front axle, new transmission (maybe), and a transfer case....

    plus hangers,shocks, steering components, drive shafts, gears (eventually) etc...

    It can be done, and probably for around 1000, depending on what kind of deals you get...

    never mind want to go low dropping a 350 in it blew the 6cly
