Need Lockers Installed - F-250 - Tampa
Hello all.
I am upgrading my differentials to include Detroit Lockers (Suretrac) front & rear on my F-250.
I am trying to decide who gets the work...
My top two candidates are "4 Wheel Parts" and "Northside 4x4".
I may also require pinion work..... got a howl coming from the rear diff.
What first hand experience have you had?
What recommendations do you have on finding a place to do the work?
Thanks,
Cecilhttp://www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Call 4 wheel parts and talk to Will. He's a good guy and will hook you up. My buddy had 4.30's put in his truck and Detroit locker put in at the same time. They done a great job and he's had zero problems with them.
Another option is Gear Works. They are located in Clearwater. Another guy I know had 4.30's put in his truck there and says nothing but great things about them.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Northside. But then again, you always hear good and bad about all shops.

I have got parts from Will @ 4wheel parts, if you go there talk to him. I would give fl-krawler on FL jeepers a call if I needed the work done. He builds some sick rides. I have seen some of his projects in action and they have all been top notch very nice work.

So far we are looking at the following mods / fixes / upgrades:
Detroit Lockers (front & rear)
Differential Bearing Kit (front & rear)
Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTZ Tires 38 / 15.50 / 20
Road Armor Bumpers (front & rear)
Warn 16.5ti Winch
I also want to either get my existing wheels powder coated black, or get some that are already black, and possibly a little wider.Last edited by Cecil; 08-31-2008 at 12:34 PM.

Cecil,
If you don't mind a lil bit of a drive, call Jesse @ Farmboy Fabrications. He does great work. He's done all the work on my vehicle and is a stand up guy. No one will touch his labor prices and he's a small business guy.
His cell # is 910-367-8762.
Tell him Patrick sent ya.

LOL, yeah.... I'm good like that.
I've been working with both 4-Wheel Parts and Northside 4X4 thus far, and as of a couple of days ago, Extreme 4X4.
I am not driving the truck until I get it fixed.
However, I really need to get it fixed.
I've been using the Jeep as my daily driver and let's day it leaves something to be desired..... like A/C!
Will hold off on the tires for a little while.
Want to see how well the lockers work before I decide on which tires to get.
If the lockers work well, I will stick with an A/T tire.
If the lockers do not work well, I will move to a more aggressive mud tire (and possible wider rims and some cut-out fender flares).
I have a few other things I want to do to the truck as well:
Banks Innercooler
Mag-Hytec trans pan
and possibly a brake system upgradeLast edited by Cecil; 09-09-2008 at 08:18 AM.

the difference the lockers will make is like the difference between 2wd and 4wd. it really is night and day.

Cecil, Were doing our best to get the you the best prices and best service as possible. To be honest i think with Truetracs you will be fine. I have True-tracs in my 97 F150 with 4.30's with 265/75/16 BFG rugged trail T/a . I have buried the truck up to the doors and still have been able to get out.
