Ball park price to swap motors on a 98 S10?

I might be picking up a 98 S10 with a blown head gasket but like many douche bags out there im sure its worse then he described.
He said theres water and oil in the motor but he didnt drive it or push it after it happened.

So I was wondering on a personal level how much do average Joes charge for a motor swap if it came to that. I dont want to take it to a Chevy dealership and get butt raped.

Also I heard of guys putting 350's in these trucks.. is that bolt on or does it need alot of work?

Thank you guys.

to drop a V8 its going to take a decent amount of work/fabrication, we just did a 4.3 the other day at my shop we charge 70 bucks per hour, i can se what we charged the guy Monday i you would like i cant remember what we did, im not to sure but i think it was like 12-1300 bucks but that included the motor/labor/antifreeze/oil/and some misc. stuff

How much do you think it would cost to repair a blown head gasket if it really isnt bad?

From what the guy said the truck broke down on the side of the road.. he had it towed home.. he gave it a crank or two in the drive way and relized what it was. I doubt he drove on it.

He probably drove all the way home with a big damn grin on his face, knowing he would just sell the car

1300 is what i was charged for my swap, but I got ripped off, so

There is a 4.3 vortec in there I belive.

I really dont care what motor goes on in there.. a 2.2 would be fine with me for gas reasons.

Bro that shyt happened to my 98 2.2 and I LET MY ENGINE SIT WITH WATER AND OIL IN IT. Basically the engine locked up and now im headed to get a new engine. BTW: I'm getting my swap done here in Arcadia by an average joe for $750.. hope this helps. Stop by s10v8.com if you want to check out putting a V8 in there. I'm just going for the 2.2.

Well I can pretty much get a 1998 Chevy S10 extended cab LS with auto tranny for free.
My uncles partner rents out a property to a family and they are the ones with the truck. They wanted a few hundren for the truck just to get it out of the way but im making them a huge website for their new furniture company (hundrens of pictures and products.. a shit load of crap that will take me days to finish) so in exchange for that I can get that truck.

I found a 4.3 vortec engine from a 1996 for 200 with a tranny from a friend of a friend.

So when I get my 600 rebate check I think I can get everything swapped over.

I need a truck for a future business.. and I always liked the 98+ S10's
