custom blower box for s-10?? to lay 20s...

does any one have or know someone that has made one that doesnt suck? ive read you loose so much air volume the blower just doesnt push enough air to really keep things cool? also does anyome have pics? i was thinking of just flipping the demensions of the box so its shorter but tall to try and keep the volume higher so the a/c blows somewhat as hard?

please any help would be appreciate.

kris

i searched s10forums, thats the first place i went. found a couple of pics but nothing to indepth.

dime, i get what youre saying but when you do that you lose air volume that results in weaker blowing of the air? im trying hard to find someone that has already done this lol.

thanks for the info!

is the truck body dropped or going to be? We can build one for you This is of one with a truck that lays on 18s with a decent size tire, 225/45/18 that we did, what size tire are you running?
This one was not too extensive, just chopped the bottom off and fiberglassed it in, depending on your tire size we may have to build a new one out of sheetmetal, but granted you will loose some power of the blower, depending on How off set the new box is from the hole in the firewall.

The problem is when you start cutting the stock air box as much as needed for 20s you remove some of the inner circle that surrounds the blower cage. I,ve done them in steel and glass, never the same. the only why I know it works great is delete the stock system altogether and run a aftermarket kit like Classic Auto Air. Im actually fixing to do a fullsize C/K this way. You keep your stock condensor, and compressor out front, just adapt them to the evap case. Other cool advantage is a smooth firewall and a billet bulkhead that lines go thru.
Thats my .02

a sheetmetal blower box usually runs about 300 bucks for labor, but if i were doing it i would need the truck, with the wheels. Also is the firewall tubbed? control arms? and everything else would need to be clearenced, cause once it clears the blower box its gonna hit the firewall, and or bind in the control arms. - mike

well im low on funds....but im getting the barely legal flat arms. i already have bell tech 2in spindles. with the sd bags kit and the tubbed fire wall it will easily lay 20s. my uncles build hot rods and will help me tub the fire wall. but the a/c thing they just dont have the time to help me solve. if someone has specs or drawings i can use they can whip it up in now time....

i just want to say thanks for all the help!

kris
