I think we lost 1 or 2 ft/lbs of torque, but it just goes to show that even restrictions after the turbo can have a negative effect. This is a shitty situation all around.

Pipe Sizing
We've seen quiet a few "experienced" racers tell people that a bigger exhaust is a better exhaust. Hahaha… NOT.
As discussed earlier, exhaust gas is hot. And we'd like to keep it hot throughout the exhaust system. Why? The answer is simple. Cold air is dense air, and dense air is heavy air. We don't want our engine to be pushing a heavy mass of exhaust gas out of the tailpipe. An extremely large exhaust pipe will cause a slow exhaust flow, which will in turn give the gas plenty of time to cool off en route. Overlarge piping will also allow our exhaust pulses to achieve a higher level of entropy, which will take all of our header tuning and throw it out the window, as pulses will not have the same tendency to line up as they would in a smaller pipe. Coating the entire exhaust system with an insulative material, such as header wrap or a ceramic thermal barrier coating reduces this effect somewhat, but unless you have lots of cash burning a hole in your pocket, is probably not worth the expense on a street driven car.

You didnt quote tha from a turbo site! Dont confuse turbo's to N/A, which is what your doing. ^^^ doesnt apply here. If I had a NO2 setup, without a doubt I would respect your advise John, turbo set-up, I get advise elsewhere. No disrespect, but you guys are clueless to turbo applications

If you have oversized piping prior to turbo ie: headers and crossover, YES that will negatively effect spooling because you loose "heat" which is velocity that spools the turbo. After the turbo, you can run 18" of pipe, same size of housing with best results. Every foot of pipe, of the same size= more back pressure. Meaning 2' of 5in has less back pressure than 10' of 5in. Most single turbo guys run 2- 3.5" pipes for exhaust clearence if they cant get a 5" to clear to minimize back pressure. Some will reduce to 4" if they are going to run a short dump

OMG!!! LMAO!

That was Funny Tommy! 1 pt for u....
Now... My .02
I personally... Like the dudes at AASCP... (although I am waiting on Shawn to respond to a VERY minor issue... missing parts...That really BIT! me in the ass later outside of his or my control...Nevermind...anyways...ttyl...LOL!) BUT! Shawn and John (even the other skinny crazy looking Chebby lover there...Forgot his name...LOL! have always been class A+ gentelman and men of their word... And cool dudes to sit at the shop and shoot the shit with! I happen to see the 302andsome turbo Mustang when it was getting this job... I personally thought it looked clean...*NOTE! I know shit of the logistics and mathmatical formulas bp...or whatever of TURBOs...* and what was said continously was, "ITS ALOT BETTER THEN WHAT WAS THERE BEFORE" so apparently...U had shyt! and they only looked to improve what was there on a functional purpose but not for a DYNO # down the track all out performance upgrade to be a permanent solution to your turbo needs... as for the rest of your issues... I can't comment...and won't... I can and will only speak of what I know... I don't know u Trey and won't disrespect you or ur arguments... They maybe 10000% valid... But I won't speak against AASCP... I am positive...This is totally in reach to being resolved... No matter what... so hope to see this thread end with a picture of u 2 sh8kin hands...
and on a side note... I have even seen Ray's mid to mild resto job examples on fox bodies in person... Basically taking hurt, trashed or equal to nothing Fox's and transforms em to clean ass fun to drive and purhaps whoop some ass on the weekend ... cars! I mean... a different type of animal... He never claimed to be a all out performance drag car modder or mechanic... But he does what he does and seem to be quite respected in what he does as the other way around for AASCP... IMO .02Last edited by JayVee; 02-23-2010 at 05:04 AM.
