Watching this video I can't help thinking that the fact that rallying has survived despite all the idiocy of the governing body is a testament to how great a sport it is. Something had to be done after all the accidents during the group B era, but it was managed horribly. Banning the cars so suddenly was a huge mistake, especially when they were not the main cause of the problems. I don't have anything against group A regulations. They were probably the best regulations in the history of rallying. The problem was the abrupt change. After rallying recovered from that change, they brought out the WRC regulations, which in short term worked pretty well, but in long term have turned my favorite sport in to the laughing stock it is today. The WRC era has given us Grönholm, Hollywood and Loeb, but after 2003 all the manufacturers started dropping like flies. It was only because of those three drivers that there was any interest left in the series. The regulations were awful and this is the era that introduced us to the super rally rule. The single most ridiculous rule in the history of the sport. People claiming that current manufacturers are as good as what we had in the nineties clearly don't know what they are talking about. Since 2003 or so Citroen was the only actual works team until VW came along and now they are broke so VW are the only ones with money and dominate because of that. And all of this could have been averted, if FIA had actually stuck to the idea of making S2000 the new top class. It would be much cheaper to build a car for the series and we'd have more competitive cars because even organisations like Prodrive and M-Sport could afford to build a competitive car without full factory backing. When it comes to rallying, the FIA are a bunch of morons who seem hell bent on destroying the sport.

RallyX at The FIRM is a new off road racing series that will consist of timed race laps on a 80/20 off-road to tarmac race course. The drivers have to navigate through a challenging course to compete for the quickest lap times which means fast driving and plenty of sideways sliding. The lap times are added up at the end of the day for a total time and those times are what decide the results. The course will use dirt roads and sections of our professional road course to add up to around 2.3 mile race circuit. Each lap is usually around 3 minutes which gives the drivers plenty of time to push their skills to the test.

On-line registration ends at 11PM the night before the event after which you will have to register at the event.

What's happening in March?

March is going to be a busy month at The FIRM. Along with 3 Open Track Days and our 3rd round of Rally X we have a lot of events we are going to be attending. First off as a sponsor of NASA Rally Sport we will be at Sandblast Rally. If you are attending come check us out at our tent. Next up we will be at Amelia Island Festival of Speed. If you want to see some really high dollar rare cars this is the event you need to be at. The next weekend we are going to be at the 12 hours of Sebring. If you are there come by our tent and say hello. On the 25th and 26th we are holding our second Florida Jeep Invasion. This event is going to be a blast. Miles of off road trails, night trail rides, custom built obstacles, and camping. If you don't have a jeep you can come out and drive our go-karts, take a ride in a helicopter, rally car or exotic car. There is going to be something for everyone. [h=2]Red Bull Global Rallycross returns to Evergreen Speedway for penultimate doubleheader[/h]Building off of last year's wildly popular debut, Evergreen Speedway will host the penultimate event of the Red Bull Global Rallycross season for the second year in a row in 2017. Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle will be expanded to a doubleheader this year, staging Rounds 10 and 11 of the 12-round schedule on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. "Red Bull GRC fans showed up in full force to support the series' return to the Pacific Northwest in 2016, and we can think of no better way to reward their unwavering support than to bring them more action packed racing with a doubleheader event at Evergreen Speedway," said Red Bull GRC CEO Colin Dyne.
Evergreen Speedway president Doug Hobbs said, "Red Bull Global Rallycross is a world class racing series that we are proud to host at our facility. Fans that missed out in 2016 have been waiting for this release for the past six months. We know this year will be even bigger and badder than last!"
In 2016, fans packed the facility to see drivers jostle for championship position at Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle. Drivers will return to action on the same course layout this year, charging down the frontstretch into the banked Turns 1 and 2 before diving into the dirt infield and conquering the dirt, Joker Lap, and signature 70-foot jump.

In last year's Supercar final, fan favorite Tanner Foust became the first driver to win both drifting and rallycross events at the track, while also reclaiming the championship lead. In GRC Lites, Washington-based DirtFish Motorsports scored a dominant victory with Conner Martell, much to the delight of local fans. Both drivers are expected to attempt to defend their wins in 2017 against a field that includes two-time defending Supercar champion Scott Speed and a multi-car effort from fan favorites Subaru Rally Team USA.
Tickets for Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle are on sale now at www.redbullglobalrallycross.com/tickets. General Admission and Club tickets are available. Tickets purchased at the door will be $5 more than regularly priced admission. All tickets include full access to the paddock, where fans can get up close to the cars and stars of Red Bull GRC.
