random tap...
Hello all I have a Tercel that has a stock 3ee
and I have a random Tapping... I have used 87 oct and then swaped to93 oct...
maybe it was the gas... but over 2-4 months its just random.... some times it does
and sometimes it dont... I was told that the valves could becoming of setting.
To use a feeder or feeler gauge and reset the valves.. back to factory setting.
Any other advice.. The Cars Idle is 99.9% perfect. I got a nice 3 inch tach so I watch it as I start it till is warms and its very steady... and even when the motor is warm its still very steady.. never unstable.
any 2 cents... Holla.

if it sounds like a dull knocking sound, it is prolly the water pump. i had one go bad on my first supra. sometimes it would knock. sometimes not. freaked me out as it was a rebuilt engine. i put a long screw driver on the water pump while the sound was there and could actually feel the knocking in the screw driver. changed the water pump. never heard the sound again.

its kinda high pitch sound... not deep at all.. engine Temp has no connection... since its 100 % random..
I happen to drive in TAmpa for the first time with my mom..... and that means driving slow, and she wanted Krystals... On hillsborrrrrow.... soo the drive threw was a long A$$ wait..
Coff coff... the temp gauge.. went over 1/2 way the first time ever... but first time ever sitting that long also.... and after driving it went RIGHT DOWN!!!!! but I wonder if my car even has a Thermostat.
*ponders*
Tomorrow Im going to pick one up and Sunday is my day off and will swap in a new one.
If i can find it.. I found on a page the Water hose will lead me to it and then another hose will lead me to the water oump so should be easy.

I just had time to look under the hood really good and the Radator has the 2 hoses and one just goes right to the motor .. Flat mount to the motor and the other goes to the water pump.. I assume the thermastat is under the water pump.. =( would be nice for a easy swap.. LOL

Well I got the thermostat changed..
The new one i had the housing on ... then said O let me take a pic..
The old was spring IS like 15 times hard to press in....
the new one is so much softer... and the thermostat housing was on the back side of the motor facing the driver wheel. Thank the lord it was easy.. LOL on my old Jeeep I cracked a bolt during making when putting the housing back on.
