Mercedes-Benz will offer an Apple iPhone cradle for its C-, E-, CLK-, CLS-, S-, CL-, SL-, M-, and R-class vehicles, as well as the upcoming GLK sport utility (for those keeping score, that's pretty much everything except the SLK-, G- and GL-classes). The Mercedes-Benz Apple iPhone cradle will be available from Mercedes-Benz dealers and retails for €249, or about $385.

Sounds like a good deal? Well, not all of the device's functions are available. For example, there doesn't appear to be a way to send or even read e-mail or text messages on the vehicle display.

Thats a crap idea. All these gadgets and gizmos in cars is a terrible idea. In a few years all that junk is going to look lame in that car. Those MBs will have this outdated cradle in there for a phone no one will be using, because the iphone will have upgraded and changed, etc.
Its like back in the 70's they were putting CB radios and 8 tracks in cars, and in the 80's the digital LED speedos, and heads up displays, and of course power EVERYTHING!!! In a few years all that crap breaks, and looks so outdated.

Car builders need to stick with making good solid cars and not road-bound entertainment systems.
