You know im there and willing to donate
dunno how many other people know this but here is a run-down of what to expect as a donor. -Once you are in the registry, you open yourself to be a donor for anyone looking (i.e. 5 years from now, you may be a match for a 10year old with leukemia and would donate then) -Costs - normally, it would be quite expensive to had the bloodwork done, but as this is a sponsered event, i dont believe it will cost you anything. -If you are a match - you would either 1) sit in a hospital for about an hour where they hook you up to a filter and filter what they need from you and this is done 3 times or 2) 1 operation, where you are sedated and it is all extracted at once. -Hospital Bills - will be covered by the person you are donating to, and you see no charges. -it takes about 8 weeks for a healthy person to replenish what all was donated, and no adverse feelings of sickness or anything such as that would happen. i hope i included everything, but im sure billy and frances will add/modify info when the time comes. Also, hope to see a great turnout aswell...if it is anything like the bennigans meetup it would be nice, but everyone is asked to come, even if you just wanna hang out and such. |
