Dissapointed with S&R never again....
6 months later after dishing out over 4 in total engine rebuilding. It all started when S&R put my engine in everything was cool until a week later I get my car back all of a sudden I am having overheating issues so I call S&R and they say no problem bring in it. Well I get out of the gas station the temp was normal then after leaving a red light the temp gauge was maxed out car just stalled and smoke from the fluid was all over my intercooler etc everywhere on my hood scoop at this point I'm pissed so now I have to pay for towing to get it to them, and then when it gets there they fixed the issue so I drive home. 2 weeks later more heating issues I looked under the hood this time to find the main radiator hose is digging into the a/c crank and leaves a big gash. Now I call them fools back and they said bring it back we will get it done. I get there some guy looks at me and says i can replace the hose and cut into size I said Okay that's fine.
he orders the hose I wait then he tells me its 25.00 for the hose I'm like hold up I just dropped 4K into this damn car Ive brought it back numerous times I should have charged you guys gas+towing if you want to get technical and your gonna make me pay for a hose that is not my issue now S&R messed up because the tech told me that the hose was from the original motor, I said that should not be cause its now a 2.5 block and all those hoses SHOULD have been replaced so they main guy says don't worry we wont charge you just take the car.
Now 6 months pass by i notice that mastro said my car was making weird noses and they ran it on the dyno and its sputtering and etc all this is winding here and there I'm like WTF are you serious and then its 700 just to see what the problem is, So I take it to my guy to get looked at....he calls me back and says dude your motor has no compression then he retests it and now it runs on three cylinders and he had to add over 5qrts of oil. Now I have a new short block with under 5K on it now on three cylinders. I blame S&R because something had to have not be done right. I will never ever take any car there no even if i break down in front of that shop I still would not go there. My car was treated like any other car. I like shops that take care of your car give you updates, honesty, and being fair while within reason. PLEASE never take your car there.

S&R is not perfect, they have made mistakes in my car too and I spent 10k in my rebuild, they do take responsibility in their mistakes and fix it for free. I do wish the mistakes were avoided in the first place and that they wouldn't take so long working on the car but they are jam packed with cars so they're always busy and they usually stay working the after hours to catch up on their work, they have good reputation for a reason, same reason you took your car there. But you say 6 months later this happened, why is it their fault? A lot can happen within half a year, can't blame S&R on everything, so its a 50/50 chance. The problems I've had with my car happened within a week, usually the same day or next day and they fix. You should address them about it first before putting them on blast on TR :-/ Good luck with your car bro!

Wait it's my fault to I should have done my homework on S&R I mean how many times have I or you have had to take your car there? Time and money isnt cheap I want my shit done right the first time, but I know things happen but all in all a rebuild should not blow within months it should last years. But here I AM with a car as of today just spitting out smoke as if I was right there in a cheech and Ching movie..

well if you didn't abuse the car then yea things should've been A-okay, sheesh i hope that doesnt happen to mine when i hit 6 months -__- yea i've taken my car there multiple times to fix some mistakes, i'm actually taking it back on monday to fix other issues...it would've been great if they were avoided but at least they're not mayor problems...but yea you should talk to them and see if something can be worked out

Your car was low over 5 quarts of oil??? :/
Thats hard to believe... An STI motor takes....4.8 quarts of oil typically....

How could the Oil have run out...do you check your oil? Suby's are notorious for burning lots of oil...I check mine every couple days just to have peace of mind

concordcobra :I'm sure he rounded up

In regards to Subies burning oil yes they do but not that much!
I use less and have 2 leaking pistons.....
I assume you broke it on and changed the oil at 1500~ right? Did you do it or did they?
something's off and would certainly get together with S&R and have a professional discussion on how to rectify the problem.
Don't go in there posting blame right off the back but explain your situation and hope you can work something out to fix it.
good luck man

^this don't go blaming them for what happens 6months down the road. Who says its not your fault. An as stated we don't burn that much oil in our cars to run out. I run both my subies for months without checking my oil. My dd 02 wrx has about 8k on the oil in there now and I still havent checked. And no this isn't because I'm an idiot it's because I know my cars. Don't go blastin a good shop. They do good work which is why they have suh a good rep. Yeah everyone makes mistakes but you can't blame this on them. Grow up and stop ranting online and go talk to them.

Buddies car along with 2 other cars that had the same work done developed rod knock 2500mi later. And for me went there to have a boost leak/smoke test done, and they began fixing leak without telling me and expected me to pay for the labor that i never approved to have done. I fix my own cars just need the smoke test done.
