sorry to bust your bubble but they won't. It's a partnership with Toyota and it's their design with Subaru engineering.
Subaru simply made it better thanks to the boxer engine and suspension design.

We should see our first BRZ to view here in Tally in 2 weeks after it leaves orlando area.
It's a sweet ass ride.

By the way, it's a 12.5 compression direct injection engone so i doubt a turbo will ever get added.

Is that why they talk about making an STi version? More than likely there will be a turbo version of this. If the sales take off.

if you read the article, since the project is complete, both manufactures can do as they please with the BRZ.

Quote:
The BRZ -- really, could Subaru have come up with a less evocative name for a sport coupe? -- is on some levels the most conventional car Japan's quirkiest automaker has ever built. But it opens up some intriguing possibilities for the company, especially as Subaru and Toyota are free to develop the BRZ hardware any way they like from here on in. Subaru engineers quietly concede there's more power to come from the boxer four, though they won't confirm whether a turbo is in the works.

i think its only a matter of time.

the Sti version wont have a turbo they already said there isnt enough space for a fmic but I highly doubt that. Rumors are Subaru will improve the car’s air intake, add a less-restrictive exhaust, increase redline to 7,500 rpm and revise the variable valve control system for optimized performance. These modifications are expected to boost output to around 250 horsepower, a full 25-percent increase over the base model.

The STI version will be lighter in weight, too, thanks to racing bucket seats, a carbon fiber hood and, potentially, even a carbon-fiber roof. Lighter wheels will be used, and the car will further benefit from upgraded brakes and a stiffer suspension for track day use.

Ill have the Sti version just dont know if I have the patience to wait for a turbo version that never comes.

as with ANY new idea some will hate or love it. I'm still in the middle on how I feel. For now it's what it is and nothing is set in stone as to what will happen.
Of course people want to believe the hype on a Sti version, trubo version, etc but all in all the platform they have now is a great one for what they set out to achieve.

I'll keep my Hawkeye though. As much as I'm gonna sound like a hypocrite I've learned to appreciate the 4 doors.
