yeah, spun bearing= new block
i spun like 3 bearings on my prelude a few years ago and it wasnt a cheap fix.a brand new H22 block cost me $2600 just for the bottom end. WRXBDBY just had his done last year too, same problem spun bearing. so he got the 2.5block. big difference.99 Prelude SH-slow but sooo SEXY

wow, 75w90? dude. Who told you to put that in??? If im not mistaken, but isnt that the type of oil that goes into a tranny?
For the oil experts, wouldnt the 75w mean that it would be tested at a cold starting temp of like 45 degrees? unlike a 5w or 10w would be around -20 to -30? so, isnt he basically putting in an oil that is just to high in starting temp and too thick? He would want a lower viscosity number (like 30 or 40, instead of 90) to help everything in the motor function with less friction with movable motor parts? I havent really studied oil enough to exactly know what it will do, but, what it sounds like is that when the temps got into the 40's around here, he cold-started the car and the oil was way to thick which had cause the motor to start and seize up.
All in all man, you need to start saving up for a new one. If you plan on sti motor, be ready to shell out some money. Call around and start getting prices with install. Good luck man. Next time, just look at the owners manual and it will tell you which oil to use.-Matt

...actually I ran Redline 75w90NS to be exact...and it recommended for +02 Subaru models...it's supposedly suited best according to this site...
Redline 75w90NS Transmission Oil
...I was doing research and what I found out is that 75w90NS is the best...It is even mentioned a couple of times in ClubWRX.net......maybe I should've researched my engine first......
...well, there is this guy selling a Civic H22 Turbo for $5,200...which was 400+ to the wheel...and thats faster than my suby...but I can't buy something that slower, especially a stock civic...I'd rather die along with me suby......
...thanks for the info man, I'll pm you if anything...
...yea, I might as well get a 2.5 block...any other parts he had to buy along with it??...
...crap it is a tranny oil...my friends stupid dad mechanic said it was freaking fine......it'll probably be a new STi motor...or that H22 Turbo Civic...or sell/trade my suby and use the money for a down payment to get another subaru......I was misledded into putting the wrong oil and now I'm facing the consequences......I should've asked you guys but back then I didn't know about tr...

I seriously doubt anyone on ANY forum would recommend 75w90NS for motor oil....
Do better research next time and don't trust your friend's dad. He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about or you misunderstood him.
Sucks you're in this situation but good luck on whatever you decide.

Just think of it as an opportunity to jump into a STi sb and have a nice torquey motor that would make a great dd. Just for reference, how much oil were you running in your motor? And fyi, that Redline lightweight shockproof is great rear end oil.

yeah u gotta get a few more parts. although it bolts right on, u still need to get more. if u running on the stock turbo u might wanna think on getting a VF39 or higher. regarding the other parts im not %100 sure, but Manny might know, if not just pm WRXBDBY and he can tell u all he got for the conversion. then u gotta think about saving some money to beef up ur tranny.Last edited by 1BDREX; 01-11-2008 at 04:26 PM.

Yes!! Please use this as a lesson learned the Very hard way. If you are unsure when maintaining your subaru, you can always call up Mastro Subaru and Talk to Will, Ray, or Manny and they will point you in the right direction.

Honeslty, if YOU dont know what kind of oil goes in your car you need to be on the fourms asking ppl.... US!
I Highly doubt 75W90 would even leave your oil pan. Its a heavy oil. Did you even look at the cap and see what it says 5W30.
Please look at your post, you responded to a reply saying redline oil was recommended.... But it says "transmission oil" MAN!....
I hope you dont own another subaru! Untill.... you atleast find out what kind of fucking oil to use....
Do you even know the difference between the engine and transmission?

my husband killed my car and he swore he wasn't hitting it hard....says it blew switching from 1st to 2nd in normal speed and my car had plenty of oil and good oil pressure....been sitting in the garage for almost 2 months now....subaru engines are not cheap and its no point to just change the bearings and then of course I need a clutch...sometimes I think I should have just stuck to my honda's...blow a motor you can pickup a block for a couple of hundred anywhere...

...well I have warranty on my engine, hopefully that fixes all...
...I sure will...I think i'm setting an appointment over at Mastros to all that needs to be done...
...I usually research any old posts first before I ask...well you're Highly wrong, it leave my oil pan...yes, I looked at the cap today......wow, you're a high definition of a donkey's synonym...ASS......and for the record I didn't freakin change the oil...some other guy did at his house....he's the tard that doesn't know where the motor and tranny is......get it straight......
...I'll pm you if anything...thanks...
...I agree...hopefully my warranty covers everything...
