Default B16B Pistons

I have a stock bottom-end b16a and I will have some EK Type R (B16B) pistons in a few days. Now will putting the B16B pistons in my B16A block raise the compression to 10.8:1 or would I need to swap out more than just the pistons? (crank, rods?)

Installing the b16b pistons would raise your compression to 10.8:1, if you have a stock b16 head that is not milled with a stock HG. You will need a new set of rings, new stock HG, and possibly hone the cylinders for a fresh surface. You are supposed to buy new factory head bolts every time, since they are one time use only, if you are using them, but some poeple reuse them without problems.

Is there a big difference in the bore between b16a and b?

There is no difference in the bore diameter between any of the B-series engines, except for the B20. All B-series (B16a/b & B18a/b/c) are 81mm stock, and the B20 is 84mm. I was recommending a fresh hone on the cylinders, the only reason you would need to bore the cylinders over, would be if the b16b pistons were oversized.

You might as well throw some new rods in there if you plan on doing anything more to your motor. I agree with the rings and all that, plus new rod bolts.

replace any bolt you remove they all stretch to fit so to speak ! Use Head studs instead of bolts cheaper than OEM bolts and better !

Stop wasting your money on a 1.6l block.

Take your b18b pistons (ctr) and stick them in an ls block with a type-r/gsr oil & water pump
