Default how can i make my focus fast??

Hey guys what's up. IUm kinda new to the ford thing. I had a 2001 celica, but ha dto sell it, so i bought a 2002 focus Zx3. I have to say, it drives a hell of alot better than the celica, i think, but it's lacking a bit in power. Any ideas for getting a bit more hp for not too much price?

I heard that people are dropping 302 ci engines in them. With the weight of your car and a 302, you will be hauling.

Make a Focus fast? Probably not going to happen unless you have the cash to ditch the lethargic Zetec for a turbo'd 3.0l Duratec or go crazy with a 302/351 or '03 Cobra motor.

Making it respectably quick may be easier achieved. I suggest you start with the mandatory "intake" and exhaust. You may want to ditch the stock cat for a high flow, or for more ponies go for a race header.

Cams make a horrendous difference on this car. My Crower Stage 2's gave my car a nice boost in performance. Focus Sport makes a nice head/cams package, as does Focus Central and a few others.

It was already posted, but definately check out www.focaljet.com for more info.

sweet thatnks guys. Yea, i would love to put a cobra motor in it, but the way I look at it, that will probably cost around as much as the car is worth. plus i'd ahve to rework the drivetrain. more money. I'll definatly check out focaljet too tho.

Actually, it isn't as bad as you would expect. Kugel Motorsports sells an entire kit for $10k, and the only thing you need to supply is the motor and transmission. So depending on what kind of deals you can get on a complete motor, tranny, and other misc. parts...you could possibly get it done for under $15k. Not bad considering the car still weighs in around 2500lbs (or less) and the power level can be anywhere from tame to insane.
