It's the proverbial end of the summer 1962 in a small southern California town. It's the evening before best friends and recent high school graduates, Curt Henderson and Steve Bolander, are scheduled to leave town to head to college back east. Curt, who received a lucrative local scholarship, is seen as the promise that their class holds. But Curt is having second thoughts about leaving what Steve basically sees as their dead end town. Curt's beliefs are strengthened when he spots an unknown beautiful blonde in a T-bird who mouths the words "I love you" to him. As Curt tries to find that blonde while trying to get away from a local gang who have him somewhat hostage, Curt may come to a decision about his immediate future. Outgoing class president Steve, on the other hand, wants to leave, despite meaning that he will leave girlfriend, head cheerleader and Curt's sister, Laurie Henderson, behind. Steve and Laurie spend the evening "negotiating" the state of their relationship. Meanwhile...

Sad to see that they did a demo job on a classic drive in, in Mel's Drive In. We have one back home, though they had to remodel it, but still has the best damn food you'll ever find. Plus they have fountain style root beer that can melt in your mouth, its that damn good. You cant buy that, in some damn store. lol Plus, we had the curb side service complete with waitress's on roller skates. They even have a old classic car show there, about once every summer. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, cos not only do I have BOTH, American Graffiti & the sequel More American Graffiti, but I also happened upon the complete soundtrack of the movie with a 2 cd set of ALL the great music that made American Graffiti, American Graffiti. And they sold allot of em. How do I know? Simple. I stumbled upon an ad in a magazine & it was in there, that I saw the 2 cd set. Funny thing is, AFTER I bought mine, the ad mysteriously disappeared from sight. Guess they must a sold out. But not till I snatched a copy up for my cd collection. Great movie, great cars, & the BEST DAMN MOVIE SOUNDTRACK there ever was. Who could ask for more? Plus they had on the cover of the cd set, a picture of Mel's complete with allot of the old cars in the parking lot. That'll F N work. lol

American Grafiti 55 Chevy still lives....

This is how the car looks today. This is the 55 Chevy that was used in both movies..... American Graffiti and Two Lane Blacktop.

It was torn apart in the eighties and had lots of changes done by order of its new owner....... Was made to carry the whole family...... work done by Gary Charnock of Elkridge. MD..... so we know the REAL DEAL from the day it was bought to the way it looks today!! Fortunately the car retains 90% of its original parts on the car or in boxes etc...... Body, Frame, Front-End etc are original to the car as well. Restoration Talks Are Back On Again, So I Thought I'd Put This Video Back Up On Youtube for Graffiti Lovers to see.

Car is owned by Denny Moran and Wayne Newsome. The car is driven, shown and raced mainly by The Wolfman Baldoni & the Astros Car Club in Baltimore. This car will still pull down a quick quarter mile times and can often be seen banging gears around town! The car Lurches Forward Franticly At Each Shift, Its WIld Looking To See It Run and Skate all over the street!!!! Hooks Up Very Well On The Track!

Restoration talks are back on and plans to return the car back to its American Graffiti stature are back on the table again. KEWL!!!!
