Would be the same for a 408 or 427. I've seen a couple stout 408 and 427 windsors on the dyno,.. one with TFS 225cc high port heads, nasty cam turning 7000 RPM the other had AFR 205 heads and a nasty cam taking it to 7000 RPM and neither made 500 to the wheels. The 408 with AFR 205 heads made 480hp and the 427 with TFS 225 heads made 465hp. On both engine the dyno graph show peak power at 6000 and then falling off. But,.. both had 400+ ft/lb torq from 3000 RPM and up. The 427 made over 500 ft/lb torq though.

Stock 302/5.0 block will be pretty stressed at 500 rwhp. 351 based block can handle quite a bit more.

306 with a Vortech isnt exactly NA.

Why drop the blower?

I was about to pull the Novi off and decided against it.

I made 486 rwhp with 16 lbs, P heads and a mild H/C/I combo.

well Trey is making 750 rwhp with his 351 block and big nasty turbo. On pump gas. Also have a customer who has a 89 saleen with an s trim and edelbrock heads made 485 rwhp with his 302. I have a 331 with an s trim that made 515 rwhp

Kinda what I was thinking. R/S class has a limit of 440ci and several exceed the 1000hp mark.

First you need to decide if you are going to stay with a 8.2 deck block, or go with a 9.5

Your cylinder heads/intake will determine how much hp you will be able to make n/a.

Cubic inches will determine where (what rpm's) you will make that power at.

Smaller the engine, the more serious the build. Either way an aftermarket block would be a good starting point.

Then show me hoss,.. I'm all into the Pony's.

I know that they 'can' and have made 500+ to the wheels. I told you about my father inlaw's 327 Chevy that made an honest 500hp. So I have no doubt it can and is being done. But I would think with TFS 225cc high port heads and a cam lopey enough to excite all the local whores would do the job. But apparently its not so easy. I've seen guys post up dyno sheets claiming their 347 and 408's made 500 to the wheels. But unless I see video or see it in person,.. which to this day I havent,.. I'm not believing it. I saw them run on RaceRelated's dyno 4 or 5 yrs ago. Neither made 500 and both were expecting to. Surprisingly the 408 made more than the 427 with bigger heads. The 427 did make some sick torq numbers though. I saw that car at Bradenton a few time,.. he would leave off idle and pull both front wheels,.. and that was through a TKO.

If you have one or know of one thats going on the dyno soon,.. share the wealth. I'll drive down just to watch and hang out with you guys.

Lots of cars out there claim the 500 number. Most of them only seem to muster low 12's and never break 120mph.
