woulda bad radiator cause a loss of power and overheating
would my radiator cause loss of power when accelarating and then over about 15 mins of driving to over heat ive replaced the thermostat and it dosent apear to be leaking except out of the overfill tank and ive flushed the radiator a few times and i am findin alot of rust
When you turn on your ac, do both fans work? If not, check the fan fuse to see if it's blown. If it's blown, replace it. If your radiator fan still will not budge with a good fuse with the ac on, tap the fan motor. If that makes it come on, you have a bad fan. Now if the fan doesn't kick on with a good fuse, with your ac on, and even if it won't move after you tap it, your coolant temp switch is bad. This thing is normally green and located on the thermostat housing. A bad radiator will cause overheating but only if it is clogged to the max (rust, calcium like buildup, etc.). Your car will also overheat if your fan is not working, as mentioned above. Try flushing the system first before you spend $100 or so on a new radiator and check all items I mentioned.

um... Sounds like a blown head gasket... my type r did this.. leaking pressure into the coolant... no smoke, no water in the oil...
i was losing all of my coolent out of the over flow tank... even after i changed my radiator cap.. <try that first...
do a compression test to confirm if its a head gasket or not..

Mine didnt smoke either.....
it wont over heat yet cause there is a little leak leaking pressure into the coolent system...
if you keep running it like that you can only make things worse...
