Can you tune an "old" Mitsubishi?

    Hello,
I'm racing in the Chumpcar series in a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT (not a VR4!). The main rules of that series is that you have to start with a $500 car (proven by Craigslist ads), safety/brakes/tires don't count toward $500, and you have to keep it stock.
My 3 teammates and I have been racing this car for the last 2 years, and between races we keep improving it. This winter, we gain almost 30 HP (proven by dyno runs) by removing the malfunctioning VIC. We were so enthusiastic that we wanted more and got a data logger. But we never got it to work.
We aren't sure if the computer cable (adapter) or the car's plug is at fault (we stripped a lot...)
I believe being a 91, I have an OBD1 plug? Can you tune those?
    Thanks
    Philippe
