Honda Civic EK: H22A engine swap

Customer brought in his newly rebuilt H22 for us to take a look at. We were told the engine was "brand new" and had approx 45 mins of run time. Installed were brand new Skunk2 Pro2 cams, no valvetrain, stock auto tensioner, no resistor box, the list goes on.

We performed a leakdown test on the "new" engine and confirmed there was little new on this engine. Skunk2 cams destroyed, cam guides done, bent valves, blown rings, etc. It was clear with the amount of damage that had been done it was better to just start over fresh.

tranny clutch off, we were told the clutch shouldve been "new".



we installed a lightly used dual friction exedy disc and pressure plate instead of reinstalling the "new" clutch:



New engine overnighted from Japan



We advised a manual tension conversion since this customer is planning to make power in the near future.

After opening everything up in the timing area:
