Little bit of an update, I bought a Holset hx30 which is a lot smaller than the hy35. I also thought of a simple easy was to block off the internal waste gate to run an external one.

I'll post up some pictures up later

no because it's in pretty rough shape from the previous owner (a really dumb hilbilly woman).

The holsets are pretty cool turbos but they don't move a lot of air at low psi in a restrictive system. With the porting you are talking about I hope it will make the numbers you want at low boost levels. My hx35-40 took 35psi to make big numbers.

Keep us updated.
Umm...The stock 2.3 Duratec Focus head flows like 300CFM on the intake and about 260 CFM on the exhaust. Not sure where this restriction you speak of is...

Anyways, for this guys power goal...

He would be best using a T3/T4 or soemthing of that nature ..The HY is just simply more turbo than you need for this.

If you are stuck ona holset and want good spool...

I vote HX35 and proper twinscroll header.

Also why the 9k rshared_pm goal?

the 9k redline is there incase i do an endo. really the HX is worst than the hy because it has a bigger exhaust housing.

i bought a hx30 which is smaller for quicker spool time.

You are right it DOES have a bigger exhaust housing, but it will spool as quick if not quicker with a split scroll header....

Ported big valve head.......

Dosen't get into what pressures they used, what kind of clay radius, etc.

I never said he had a restriction? I did give my personal proven experience with a holset and 100+ dyno pulls over a few years with different parts.

If his head flows 300cfm then thats great and all but if the rest of the system doesn't flow serious amounts of air it wouldn't matter. Bolt a 250cfm intake on a 300cfm head and the headflow with drop. This goes for every part of the system.
Should ad he seems to have a pretty good plan and seems like a decent guy. You on the other hand.
