Here we go again #2
Most of you know what Pauls car looked like. I bought this as a father son project, so my boy has been loving it so far (even though I am doing most of the work lol). I bought his coupe and started the tear down about 3 weeks ago. I first discovered some major rust (let me first say that I know Paul did not know about this, because it looked surface until you really started digging). Underneath the first layer of metal it was rusted mush (all the way through). I am planning on keeping this car for a long time so everything is getting done right. I cut out all the bad metal and welded all new metal in. I am going to use seam sealer around all the welds to ensure no leaks. I also had to cut out about a foot section of the drivers rocker panel which was destroyed under about 2 lbs of bondo. Last weekend we took out the k-member and front suspension. I then stripped the engine bay to bare metal (it look liked it was sprayed with a bedliner or something because that crap was thick and would not sand off). Then the NIGHTMARE of welding all the engine holes and smoothing out began (this SUCKS!!!!). I finished all the welding and grinding for the most part tonight and now have to start with filler and sanding. Here are some pics of where she is at now. The rear may come out tomorrow.

I definitely will be getting with you when it comes time to do my wheels (which will be quite a while lol). The doors I have are good and straight, and I have a 2" keenan that will be coming off my hatch eventually, but thanks for the offer!!! And I sure hope it pays off, this is a royal pain!!

That's alot of hard work right there. Worth every bit of it. Looks like a much better car.

I will go to the body supply shop tomorrow. I intend on getting rage gold, hopefully they will have it. It needs to be fairly light. The holes are filled well with the welder, I just have to finish it off.

I liked how you marked the holes your going keep, nothing worse than having to drill a hole you just filled...

Yeah no kidding. That would be my luck, to weld up every hole I need lol. Still debating on whether to weld up the radiator support or get one of those long aluminum hold downs that hide the holes.

This is a good one for the shine of my spray can paint job

And i would use the plate for the radiator, clean, cheap and less work. Here's another pic of the old ass, garbage coupe lol
