another '65 2 dr wagon saved!
I bought another '65 falcon 2 door wagon off of craigslist about 2 months ago for $800...this is an original v8 Florida a/c car......what makes it rare is that Ford only made 4891 of them in '65.....of these only 183 are registered (of which the majority were 6 cylinders) so there aren't too many left....car is pretty straight but will need bodywork as most old cars do! car has the original rearend as well as the a/c unit...I have since started taking all of the rusty pieces off and prepared it for sodablasting....check out these pics!

It has been awhile since I posted on the forum....my computer locked me out of the site....anyway I have continued on the teardown of the wagon....ended up cutting off the roof skin with a grinder and found bad news....the inner structure up top was swiss cheese....she is going to need a roof replacement....fear not have some possibilities and the rooves are compatible from the '60-'65 falcon and comet 2/4 drs....spent about 4 hrs drilling out the 150+ spot welds on the upper cowl to find the outer cowls will need cowl patch panels and new hats...it wasn't that bad just alot of patience!.... removed the emergency brake assembly also because the line was broken completely....at this point in the teardown I have taken off all of the damaged stuff in anticipation of rebuilding her.....the roof replacement and cowl repair are the #1 priorities before I can think of putting her on a rotisserie

Yeah man I was looking for something totally different to do....this wagon got beatup pretty bad from prior owners so it will need to go on the rotisserie to take care of all of the cancer....I tracked down one of the old owner's wife who signed over the title to me....it was still titled in her husband's name and they had it from '73-'91....yes the car exchanged hands several times with no title transfer until I got it....well long story short her husband passed in July of this year and she would like to see it resurrected once again....even the daughter remembers the wagon and all of their trips up north to VA! I am going to model it after someone else who has the same original color and options as mine

Well I definetly hit a gold mine for parts.....I talked to someone who was selling a '61 2 dr wagon and he told me about a guy who had a '64 wagon that he was parting out....got a chance to talk to him and he said he has all of the metal panels I need for my project (cowl, quarters, torque boxes, roof)....wants to work out a package deal with me and as long as the pics tell the story sounds like it will be a slam dunk!

Attention: to anyone who has any older fords (edsel, galaxie, falcon, etc) I found a yard in York,PA that has numerous cars in their yard....they plan on crushing them this coming year after May...their phone # 717-846-3944 and the yard is called Baughman's auto...the story is they have 3 yards full of older fords and others and plan on cutting down on the inventory...if you want to check out some pics go onto LOVEfords - Ford Mercury Edsel Lincoln Articles, Data, Pictures, and Information and go under "out to pasture" forum

Wagons are starting to get the attention that they deserve and not as grocery getters....they are actually rarer than most people think and can be modded with good stuff or used for surf boards
