Round 3 or is it 4 or 5? 87 Project
I guess a little history is in order. Bought the car about a year and a half ago. Nothing wrong with it, but you guyz n galz know what happens.
87 Hatch w/'90 GT40 crate motor including wiring harness
Excellent interior, except for non functioning AC. (Got rid of it anyhow.)
Bought the Holley Systemax kit used on Corral including cam, RR's, p-rods and asst. items.
Installed said items Dyno'd at 308hp/310tq.
Had motor out once or twice more for various reasons (dumb reasons)
A/F issues upgraded to 30's and difft. mass air....Ran worse.
Installed new balancer, Flywheel, and aluminum DS. Vibrations now exist. WTF?????
Said screw it,,,can't have Wendy and John's engine bay looking good and mine looking like poop. Hid harness, welded holes. Well, I got tired of the "issues" and took it all back apart. Re-doing the engine bay and going carb'd.
Tank is dropped Frank, just gotta get it to ya for the sump.
So, without futher ado, I present,,Project "White trash." Haaaaaa

Oil pressure gauge and tach bought off ebay for $50. Supposedly they cam from Kenny Schraders Cup car when he drove for Hendrick. That's circa 1988.

round 1. My little spidey mechanic/helper

Had upper and lower powder coated

Supposedly the GT40 crate motor only had 60k miles on it when I bought it. Crosshatching looked perfect. Gave away the heads (tri-bar marked so I know the motor was probably what the seller said it was.)

Yeeee-ha,,,done w/round 1. Went to our track day after this and it was so darn hot I could not get slicks to hook, did much better on my cashed D/R's. However, w/the temps and my crappy driving my times weren't what I wanted (13.0's at 105.) From research I'm thinking w/the MPH that I should have been doing 12.80's.

However, a new set of problems crept up. Pass side bank was running real rich and drivers side perfect. Tried a brand new $112 dollar O2 sensor. Nope. Never really figured out this issue.

All the removal, sanding, painting and re-install was during my 5 week baby leave for the birth of Karina Christina. This is a few months after.

Round 2, cage install. It has since been cut out. got tired of the safety issues of my oldest and lifting Karina over the bar and wiggling around the Corbeau seats I have.

Doug Carty in Seminole did the cage,,,great work, great price. I highly reccomend him.

My first attempt at body work/bondo wasn't to bad, but wasn't so good either. Wanna know what made me decide that? Seeing the work John did on his and Wendy's car.

Everything in the fender except for the main harness from computer.

I then had the motor out for a third time due to an oil leak and decided to try nitrous. Upgraded to Cometics, but for some reason I had water leaking from both sides after I reinstalled the heads. Couldn't figure it out, but finally did.
